We will be visiting Disneyland in January 2016 (our first ever trip) and are wondering if the fireworks shows and Fantasmic will be running during the week, or are they only scheduled on the weekends at this time of year? We will probably be arriving on the 11th or 12th and are thinking of doing the 3 day park hopper, is this enough time to see most things?
Thank you.

At this point, we don't know when the Holiday season will official end, but my guess is that by the 11th/12th it will be over, so fireworks and F! will only be presented on Fri, Sat, and Sun. WoC is generally presented nightly. We don't yet know what PtN's non-peak season schedule will be.

In terms of the number of days, it depends on what you mean by "most things". The weekday operating hours tend to short (e.g., 10:00 am to 8:00 pm), but the crowds also tend to be somewhat lower. There is less entertainment offerings, so it means less things to try and see. I think you can get a fair amount accomplished in three days, but you will still probably have to skip some things due to time. (Note that if you do go right after the holiday season ends, there is a good chance HM will be closed to have the overlay removed. Other things may also be closed to have holiday decor removed. Jungle Cruise may be closed or not, depending on when they decide to remove the overaly. IaSW usually closes about when HM re-opens, so later in the month.)

3 days is the bare minimum for seeing the DL resort. It's hard to get that "get away" feeling in just 3 days. Add in that 4th day and things feel much better.

As for nightime shows, they only play on the weekends during the off season. This makes Friday nights particularly busy as the SoCal pass holders (who are blocked on the weekends) show up to see the fireworks and F! on Friday.

Thanks for your replies. Given that fireworks and F! will only be showing on the weekends during our trip, would you say they are a "must see" and we should rearrange our itinerary so that we are there during the weekend, or are they just something that is good to see if you happen to be there when they are showing?

I think they are both a must see. BTW.. I love DL in January/February❤
