Going Dec 16-23 and trying to get Cal grill reservations which I know is near impossible.

I'm wondering if you can eat at Chef Mickey's or The Wave and also see the fireworks from the top of one of the buildings/towers..or is it only Cal Grill?

Also, I managed to get a 9:20 for Cal Grill with fireworks at 10 on one night. Is it worth it? Would we def be able to see the fireworks? Could we go for just dessert? We'll have a 5 and 6 yr old with us...a full dinner might be pushing it..and I think it will be on our last night.

Thanks in advance!

Magic Kingdom fireworks are best viewed from Main Street. That is were they were designed to be viewed. Sure watching them from the CR is fun, if you have seen the fireworks a million times, it is a different perspective.

There is an observation deck on the 4th floor open to everyone, not sure if it is still open, with all the construction going on at the CR.

The only reason to dine at CG is for the delicious food, fireworks are a nice bonus. I wouldn't recommend just eating dessert, you would take a reservation away from someone else, and reduce the amount of money your server would make.

The fireworks can also be seen from the Poly beach and from the marina at the GF both of those locations are free.

Thanks! I ended up being able to snag a 5:30 res and then if we want we can come back with our receipt to watch the fireworks from the cal grill restaurant.

Looking forward to a dinner there! It will be our first at Cal Grill.

Great! With a 5:30 resi, you'll get a window table! Awesome!

CG is my fav restaurant, the lobster rissoto is amazing, and if you like sushi the Spicy Kazan roll is not to be missed!

Construction is complete for Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary so the 4th floor viewing deck is open. Disney will pipe in the music score for the fireworks show so you may enjoy both sight and sound. This is a great option if you are dining at Chef Mickey's. The Wave is on the first floor, so just take the escalator up to the 4th floor.

The top of the building viewing decks are reserved for only those with reservations at California Grill.

Good to know about the construction-thanks Robert!

I saw the menu on all ears and the lobster risotto def peaked my interest. I LOVE risotto. And being from New England-also love lobster.

This is a last min trip so we are behind in planning...but definitely looking forward to it.

Should I request a window table-or is it automatic that early? We'll be a table of 4.

I would definately request a window table if you are making the reservations at the California Grill. They will note the request, but will not guarantee. Just arrive early and be open to wait for a window table if there is not one available when you arrive. Enjoy!

How long does it take to get to Main Street from the CR?
The walk over is about 10 min, then you go through security, and then the turnstiles. So I would say on average about 15 min, but could be as much as 25 if lines are longish.

When going to eat at Chef Mickey's or The Wave and then wanting to watch Wishes from the Contemporary your only option would be the 4th floor observation deck, because watching them at the California Grill is restricted to those guests with ADR's during that evening.
