Fireworks + 2nd parade?

We are going to DLR in July (first visit in the summer since I was a kid). Is it feasible to hang out behind the parade crowds for the first parade (towards the end) and then head in to grab a spot to see the fireworks? Is it then possible to grab a spot right after the fireworks for the 2nd parade? We're trying to maximize our time, since we only have 2 1/2 days in the parks, and we do want to see both the fireworks and parade.

This is what we usually do. If you hang out in the Main Street stores while the first parade is going you can just step out into the street after it passes by when everyone clears off the curbs and join the fireworks watchers. After the fireworks, the crowd will all be heading out so it's a little tough to hold your ground but the curbs will be empty to grab a spot for the second parade. We usually try to hang out in Disney Clothiers or the end of Emporium where the cute purses and jewelry are to wait for the parade to pass. Then we step out into the street and watch fireworks from around Carnation Cafe and then grab a seat on the curb in the hub for the second parade.
