I have recently learned about the firework dessert party that is held in MK. I understand it is running again after breaking for a while.

Can anyone tell me anything about this? Is it worth doing and the price?

We are going in August this year, so have changed our way of thinking in preparation for this time of year, and are thinking about doing different things with a less comando/more laid back approach.

We have 2 boys who will be 20 months and 5 in Aug. We always have the odd day on our trip where they stay up late, and generally are ok with this.

Thanks

Looks to still be in "experimental" mode.

They are only accepting ADR's thru the end of May, 2010 (next month) at this time.

I think if there are two adults with or without children it's worth it.

I went with my niece and with only one adult-it was a PITA. When I took her to the washroom the table was cleared. I had to find the manager and request some more lactose free items for my niece. The table we had was in a great spot, but others grabbed spots along the railing and our view was gone.

well they keep extending the dessert party because while I was on my college program they originally said they were gonna end the party 2 separate times but then extended...so who knows
I personally went to a party, it is something worth doing once but I would not want to pay for it again. I mean the viewing spot was nice and the food good but not really worth $30-ish.

This is a post I put in another forum about the dessert party when someone else asked about it:

"I love the Dis Boards but I use Allears.net to plan my trips also and they have a Dessert Party Section on there. They say that Walk ups are allowed as long as there is room. Visit the allears site and the link to the Dessert Party is right on the home page and it will give you all the information. They also have reviews of it and if you look around they have pictures posted as well! We are going in May/June and have decided to add this to our list of things to do. The only draw back is if you make a ADR you have to pay for the Dessert Party up front which makes it a little harder if the kids are tired the night you decide to go. Maybe a trip back to the hotel mid-afternoon for a little r & r might make the night go a little smoother. HAVE FUN!!!"

We just did the dessert party the week after easter. Probably was a bit pricey for what we actually ate, but it was a really nice place to view the fireworks. And it was nice to see them without battling any crowds. Plus being able to lean up on the rail I was able to capture some really nice firework shots. For that alone it was worth it to me.

We went to the dessert party over Easter weekend and for us it was way worth it. Our kids were tired, but still wanted to see the fireworks so it was great to sit down, eat some scrumptous desserts, have some coffee and milk and watch the fireworks. They did start to clear tables that no one was sitting at, but the buffet stayed up till the end. Tink literally flies right over your head and it seems as though you could reach right up and touch her. They kept the tables back away from the railing so everyone could see or stand by the railing if they preferred. They also didn't allow anyone to put chairs up by the railing and stand on them as it impeded others viewing. Some people were annoyed that they didn't allow them to do that, but those of us not doing that were thankful. All in all I would do it again in a heart beat.

Call Disney Dining (407) 939-3463 and ask for the Wishes Dessert Party. It was I think $27.00 for adults. It's at the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station.

Thanks everyone.

This is what i don't get - I thought this had a roof to it. If I am thinking of the right place, it had open sides, but a roof so I can't picture how everyone would see the fireworks if you weren't up to the wall.

I'm sure we sat there after the fireworks on our last trip, waiting for the crowds to die down, and it seemed really bright - I assume they swith lights off!

Does anyone have any pictures of the terrace so I can picture it?

Was this taking from the terrace? It is a good view - others have said you dont have fireworks over the castle, but this looks fine to me!

Those particular fireworks in the photo are the UP-FRONT effects fireworks that are fired from the rooftops of Fantasyland.

The ones that don't "line up" with the Castle are the MAIN LARGE fireworks (launched from just outside and behind the MK's
perimeter (near Toontown.)

Edited to add:
But, many guests don't mind that the major fireworks don't "line up with the Castle."
The show is still very enjoyable without the more "precise angles" as seen from Main Street.

You are correct.

The (very low) roof blocks the views from nearly every TABLE in the Tomorrowland Terrace.

The only place to see the whole show is near the front railing.
You can see the very low and ample roof-overhang in the map below.
(#48 is the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station)

Yes it was taken from the terrace. We were on the middle left side right at the railing where I took that. I thought the fireworks looked great and didn't mind them not being perfectly lined up.

Wow. So you are saying unless you have a table up against the wall, you wont see much other then concrete roof. That's how I picture it anyway! I am guessing I must be wrong - why would you pay that much money for a concrete roof?

Also the reviews I read keep saying they had fantastic views, so I must have it wrong somehow!

Thanks for your maps Robo - at least I know I am thinking of the right place

Guests stand along the rail to see the show.

I've moved this thread to the Restaurants board. We're trying to keep all discussions of the Wishes Dessert Party here. :)

Okay...so let me get this straight.

You can't watch from there UNLESS you're doing the dessert party now?

Reason I ask is our last visit was end of February 2008. Got to the Noodlestation around an hour or so before the fireworks and had dinner then. We just stayed put when we realized the fireworks would start soon. We sat to the far left of the Noodlestation if you're lookin at that picture.

We can't do that now?

I did it last August I think I pd $16 or $16.99 I forget but it was no more than that nor would I pay more than that. Not worth it in my opinion.
It's something I do one time but wouldn't do it again .

I have reservations for this next month. I have never been before, but it seems to be very popular. I hear the desserts are great and everyone can see Wishes unobstructed, but I'm not so sure its worth the very expensive price.
