I have Direcway. I have the firewall that comes with XP running all the time. I would like an additional firewall. I downloaded Zonealarm. It is free :)
I also have Linksys networking. I have wiresless capability, but am currently using wired access for the laptop (too many interuptions with the wireless) through the Linksys router.
I understand that Linksys hardwire has a firewall in it, so am not to worried about the laptop, but do sure want the desktop to be covered.
When I try and have Zonealarm running on the desktop, it blocks the laptop access......
Is there some way I can 'set' the zonealarm to not have the laptop blocked? I imagine there is probably a simple solution and I am just not getting it.

Thanks for any help.

you might want to be careful running lots of differnet "protection software" at once. Lots of them tend to interfere with each other, which defeats your purpose. I would check out their web sites for any "known" problems before I added anything else.

Secondly, you can try and prevent people getting in your box but the only real way is to not connect to the internet. It's kinda like a seatbelt it might save ya but then again it might not. Better to have some protection in my opinion to keep the idiots out but as far as the real players, forget about it. My point is you prolly have it as tight as you're going to get it.

Also one last point, posting what you use to protect your PC is not a good idea. The trick to getting into someones box is knowing what programs you are up against. They all have a weakness or an exploit, so telling people what you have is sorta lik giving them a map.

I hope I didn't sound condesending , I'm just trying to help :)

You should get a popup, if you set it as such, when something asks ZA access permission. When it is the laptop, just check off to always permit for that source. Also, if you were running ZA (I use the ZA that is paid for), I would turn off the Windows bulit-in. That would give you one hardware (router) and one software (ZA) firewall.
