Fireplace at the Sequoia Lodge

Odd question I know, but we plan to visit in early Feb and I have read that this hotel has a big fireplace in the lobby, is it a working fireplace?

So can we come back from the parks and warm in front of it?

From what I remember yes it was a lovely old fashioned fire ... when we went in december it was lovely to come back to ... though did smell a bit sooty
