Hey everyone, when I get online at home I use Netscape (Internet Explorer at work). Well, I went to Netscape's website to download the latest version of Netscape and discovered that they are no longer going to be doing updates as of Feb. 1, 08 and that they recommend Mozilla's Firefox. Does anyone use Firefox, and if so what's it like? Can I get it free, or do I have to pay for it? Also, would anyone who's using it recommend it?

thanks

ETA: Ok, I just discovered that Firefox is free. Sorry for that question that could have been so easy to find out.

I use Firefox all the time. It's free and IMO, significantly better. From the perspective of one who designs and develops websites, Firefox is much better at adhering to standards, so the results are predictable and no special modifications to HTML/CSS/Javascript are necessary.

In any event, download it and try it out. Won't cost ya anything but time :)

I have only been using firefox for awhile now. it is much better imo than explorer.
its free give it a try.
the only thing we use explorer for is the kids toontown, it wont work with firefox.

We have been using Firefox for a couple of years. Love it.

I been using Foxfire for a couple years now and like it. My ex is a computer specialist and he recommended it.

I use Firefox.

The feature I really like is increasing the text size under the View tab. (Yes, I don't want to strain my eyes). :magnify:

Also, the open tabs are just above the screen. Nice. (Hope I described this properly)

Years for Firefox. Love it.

Firefox fan here too. My experience is that it is fast than IE. However, there are still some sites that don't support it. For those sites I just change over to IE.

After using Firefox at home you will probably want to switch to it for work as well. Its much more secure than IE and there are good plug-in's that will automatically block ads.

I'm very happy with Firefox. IE used to freeze up on me constantly. I don't recall Firefox ever freezing up on me, and if it has it wasn't often enough to cross my mind.

I've been using Firefox for years now and I love it. there is an IE tab extension you can get. I never open IE anymore

We use firefox and love it. We had never heard of it until we got the Geek Squad to come out to our house to set up some stuff for us. The guy recommended it and installed it while he was doing all of the other stuff. IE used to crash on us all of the time. Firefox hardly ever locks up or crashes. We do still have to use IE at times for some game sites.

I used to use firefox but for streaming vids and such I could never get any plug ins to install. Each time I have tried it just sits there and wont load.
Plus I was still getting tons of pop up ads.

So I use the lastest version of IE.

I work for a medical software company and they asked everyone to switch a year ago. I like it alot. DH doesn't. I don't know if he switched over at work or not, I don't think he has. At home he uses IE and I use Firefox.

Ok, so I've downloaded it and I'm currently using it. The one thing I like about it right off is the automatic spell checker. I have a fairly good grasp on spelling (for those words I don't know, I look them up), but every once in a while one will slip through. For those that do, there's this spell checker automatically built in. I'm not liking the look of it right now. I've been using Netscape for a long time and I've gotten used to looking at that. I know you can play with the themes, which I have, and I must have done something wrong because nothings changed. I guess I've done something wrong :confused3 . I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Question, once you've downloaded something, like Firefox, you no longer have to keep the set up icon on the computer, correct? I can delete it? I hate having clutter on my desk top. Thanks everyone.
