Firefox not working for vmk?

Hey all.

DD and I (2 seperate computers) both have been getting black screen of death all morning using firefox (like we always use).

So for the heck of it we try Internet Explorer and we both get in???

Anyone else having problems getting in with firefox this morning?

Better yet, is anyone already IN using firefox?

Just wondering what is up. Checked settings on both comps and nothing is different than any other day. And obviously my dsl & firefox is working, i am using it right here lol.

Having same problem, even updated shockwave plugins for Firefox, no difference.

lol i did too. maybe changes made to vmk overnight don't jive with firefox? they did say some things were different in vmk today..games etc. ??

I just tried...and no it looks as if it did not even make it to the load screen...I got the log in...and then it black screens on me

Can't get in with the SBC Yahoo browser either, only IE.

I try to avoid IE at all costs....The only time I use it for a program at work, because firefox does not have the plug ins...

Actually, firefox has an extension you can install called "User Agent Switcher" that will make Firefox appear to be any number of other browsers. I abhor IE and this extension allows me to use Firefox even when others would wish me to use IE.

You should give it a try. It can be downloaded from the Firefox extensions pages.

When I switch it to IE, it tells me that I have to install shockwave, what gives?

Over a month ago, when I tried to use FireFox, I would log in, and get that Black Screen of Death. No VMK logo, no blue status load bar, nuthin'.

So I've given up on FireFox back then. Sorry to see that others have joined the Dark Side with me.

So that's why I can't log into VMK all day. Grrrrr. I just switched over to IE and at least the log bar is there, but it's taking forever....

I'm curious - so many of you that hate IE - may I ask why??

Why do I hate IE, let me count the ways.

I hate the fact that it doesn't have Tabbed Browsing
I hate the fact that it tries to hook itself into every little thing I do.
I hate the fact that it has *so* many security holes.
I hate the fact that it's a product of Microsloth.
I hate that it doesn't play nice in the world of WWW coding (many of it's specifications are not W3C specifications) (yea, that was prolly too geeky for most of you)
I hate how the 'favorites' are set up.

Same here, which i have done now 5 or 6 times lol. Still no luck, looks like it's back to the real (blech) I.E. for the time being.

I couldn't get in on Sunday with Firefox either. I tried off & on for hours but only got in once all day with Firefox. I could get in with IE, but as usual, the log in takes about 4x as long with IE as it used to with Firefox.

only safari and working fine

Once you go Firefox you will never go back. An ad free, smoother, more professional internet awaits you.

omg, i tried to play fireworks...once...JUST once lol. I cannot believe my eyes. seriously. I can not believe how much slower the game runs in internet explorer as opposed to firefox. I didnt think it would be possible to have that much of a difference simply by changing browsers. The fireworks game is simply unplayable on my comp with I.E.....have to say it again, WOW what a difference.

I hope they get it fixed soon, if they will at all. who knows? it's a shame, aeryns idea would work if the thing would recognize we have shockwave loaded once we switch firefox to emulate ie with the switch add-on. But its not. I mean the main site comes up in the I.E. switch, but then it just kicks out and says to download shockwave. ugh. i give up. Cant even have a conversation in vmk on ie, i lag too far behind real-time. Guess i'll just crash boats till i can get back in like normal (and even that takes longer per game now lol).

And wolf, I feel ya dog . Can only imagine how many peps here still using I.E. would see the reverse effects (increase in speed) by moving to firefox. of course, not today lol
