Firefly (Serenity) birthday party?

I've googled and pinterested , but hope to get some ideas from the Firefly fans here.

I'm throwing a small birthday party for my husband with the Firefly theme. I have the cake down (orange sides, yellow top, brown trim with Have a Shiny Birthday, Browncoat! written on it and Kaylee's parasol (3) in the left corner), and will be serving chinese.

I could use some more ideas on decor and gift wrapping. Unfortunately it's next Thursday, so not much time to order stuff.

Get some small plastic dinosaurs and put them around.

There are quite a few graphics out there that are of the Serenity theme song, you can print those out and hang them.

Get some candy corn colored ski hats like Jayne's?

Go for silky scarves to decorate like Inara's shuttle?

Obviously some six shooters in holsters...

You could make ledger-sized prints of some of the Firefly memes floating around on the web and put them up on the wall.

Somewhere you really need a "pretty floral bonnet" , that would make a good centerpiece if it was tacky.

Put the Chinese seal from the Serenity logo on your front door.

For wrapping paper you could get some plain kraft paper, then use sticker film sheets in your printer with WordArt to print some quotes to put on it. Things like "Every heist he's gotta start yellin' my name!" (Or print them on directly, but that limits your paper size.)

It's too bad you don't have much time to prepare.

I would suggest finding some ancient Chinese coins (or imitations as most of them are) and putting some near centrepieces/food/etc.

LOL Thank you all. I hadn't thought about the bonnet. I was going to try and make Jayne's hat out of construction paper for party hats.

Am writing down all your ideas and will visit those sites.

I think that a duct-tape floral bonnet would be pretty danged funny. (Skip the fabric part of this demo and just use flowered duct tape all over. Squish it on the edges to make it look like ruffles.) http://www.darlinganddash.com/bonnetcardboard.html
