I read fire pits are allowed as long as they are off the ground with a metal lid... true?

From my understanding of the rules: yes.

Yes it would. As long as it has a solid top (and not a screen top) it will be generally acceptable.

Screen tops might allow a burning ember (however small) to float up and over into the woods while it is still hot.

I have that exact same one. I'm just wondering how to get it to FW without dismantling it. What's your method?

This is what i used. Propane fire pit, and chicken wire around the base. Painted with heat resistant paint. , also the lid was steipped and repainted with heat resistant paint. I had the fire pit and wire and paint, so no cost. The wire would be rolled stright for transport.
