Hi,

I am a US/IOA newbie but we will visit this fall. I know this has been discussed but I tried to search with no luck. I would love to know opinions and differences of fire and ice on dueling dragons!!

Thanks,
T

As a DD veteran, I like Fire much more than Ice mainly because of the fly-over at the top of the first hill. There's just something about looking down and seeing people flying under you. You should definately ride them both. :thumbsup2

i prefer Fire, but love doing them both, prefer Ice when i am in the front, and back row on Fire

I love them both, but Fire has that one free fall feeling part that I love more

This is one coaster that kind of scares me - what do you do if you are wearing sandals? I see that your feet dangle :scared1:

Is this the only coaster that has that?

I like the front of Fire better than the front of ice.

For yrs I like Ice more than fire, until DS convinced me to ride front row. now I'm hooked. for me, the back of Fire is too rough on my neck.

you have to sit on the sandals, leave them with a non riding friend or loop the straps of the sandals around your wrists.

they are strict about the shoes that can fall off during the ride.

I know that I choose ice even if I refuse to ride it :goodvibes

I know fire has a 105 foot drop
and ice has 95.
and fire goes a tad faster

I used to be a coaster fanatic (haven't been to any park in recent years). I always wore flip-flops to the parks since I hate socks, and I hate my feet feeling enclosed. Anyway, I always just took my flip-flops off and sat on top of them, never had a problem! :)

As for Fire & Ice, I really can't remember. I know I have been on both in the front seat though. :)

Dueling Dragons is the only coaster at IOA/Universal that is inverted and you will have to sit on your sandals if you want to ride.

This is absolutely the best roller coaster any where - not the wildest but the best. I like to ride both simultaneously - but that doesn't work very well! :lmao:

Neither because it makes me want to puke, although my sister says Fire is her favorite because she thinks Ice is closer to the ground. I don't know. I just know it made me sick the only time I ever rode it.

Anyway, I read somewhere that they were going to be retheming this to the TriWizard Tournement for HP. Is this true, or just another rumour?

A rumour right now...Universal has said nothing officially yet. I have heard the queue is going to be shorten to make room for walkways and such but again...just a rumour. I don't know anything about Harry Potter but I would think dragons are in the story somewhere...right? :confused3

Yes, one of the competitions in the Triwizard Tournement were trying to retrieve a golden egg that a dragon was guarding. Each competitor was assigned a different kind of dragon.

DD is one of my favorite coasters, but I lean towards Ice in preference, although the difference between both is very slim. Ice focuses mostly on its inversions and Fire 's is its max speed; Fire is a much smoother ride, but Ice I found to be a bit more bumpy. Both are fun, though. My best suggestion is to ride both tracks if you can.
