Sad non-Disney news: Fire broke out in a stateroom on the Star Princess this morning. One passenger died, others treated for smoke inhalation injuries.

By looking at this picture it's hard to believe there was only one fatality. Speculation is that this was caused by a cigarette, how awful.

We were on the Star over Christmas! The pic in my sig was taken in one of the restaurants.

Not a good week to be taking a cruise! :sad1:

We have our 5th cruise booked for next year and I have to say, I cannot imagine anything more frightening than hearing those sirens go off in the middle of the night and then standing at your muster station knowing that there is a real emergency aboard. The damage looks extensive. I would have been freaked if I was on board. My thoughts go out to all the passengers effected by the fire.

Technically, the person who died wasn't "killed" as they are reported to have died from a heart attack.

I feel terrible for all of the families who were relaxing on their vacations and had this happen to them. Although it may not have been Princess's fault, I hope that Princess gives the people affected some good compensation.

We'll be on a cruise in about 5 weeks and I can't imagine what it would be like to be woken up at 3 a.m. with alarms going off and smoke in the passageways.

so scary and sad. We were on the Norwegian Dawn last year and Im sitting here thinking-if there was a fire in that hallway where our room was, there would be no way out. It looks like so many rooms were impacted-how were those people able to get out in that hallway? Im so glad they were able to!
