Fire Destroys a Disney Bus

I keep reading them to figure out why if some can't stand the company why do they go to the park?..vote with your feet! then they will not have to worry about the lightening struck giraffe, flaming buses or anything else may or may not happen on Disney property. what personal gripe do they have against Disney to become so irrate...were they traumatized by the Snow White attraction as a child?
sorry but it is an amusement park, you do not have to go to it! you do not need it to sustain life like say, electricity or water or food. if they actually believe Disney is the only large company that is less than honest about all it's dealings they must permanently reside in Fantasyland anyway!

Don't jump to any conclusions about the Rumor's board on this topic.

KNWVIKING...you're right. I was surprised to see that there wasn't a peep on that board with the exception of a message pointing people to this thread. Maybe all the anti-Disneyites made it over here to grace us with their prevailing anti-Disney barbs.

Just have to apologize if I offended anyone out there, especially our friends from the Rumors & News board. Sometimes I just get so frustrated when I hear all of the negative commentary.

Yes...Disney isn't perfect, no one is. I also realize that alot of boards breed negative commentary simply because a majority of the time people will sound off if there is something wrong, not when something goes well.

They have even referenced the BTMRR tragic accident a month or so ago as a cover-up.

Ya know, I've been through the posts and didn't see where anybody refers to a cover-up on BTMRR...surely, you don't mean mine - if so, you need to reread it. :earseek: Now, Roger Rabbit was an attempt at a cover up...geez, whatever happened to that kid.... Read the Mouse Tales series and you'll be very enlightened as to what goes on behind the scenes... :hyper:

Here we go again with the "love it or leave it" ... very entertaining. If I hate Disney Corporate, does that mean I hate Disneyland or WDW - heck no. Pleeeeeze people; let's disguss like adults here. :chat:

Where did I or any other poster state they can't stand WDW  If we can't stand WDW would we be DVC members for the last 5 years and go to WDW at least 2x a year

All most people and customers want is "honesty" from a company if they are going to spend $$ and want there family to be safe. Is that asking to much:scratchin?

at WDW and Disneyland .....just ask the families at Disneyland in California that were affected by the accident.

I think more people are concerned than just me...... wouldn't you say?

The R+B board is actually very educational. And some of us go to great lengths to defend WDW rather then bash it but that doesn't mean we're sheep being led by a Mouse. You ought to spend some time there, figure out which Car you're in and have fun "debating" Disney.

I agree. It's hardly the "Disney Bash Board" but a place for Disney fans to intelligently discuss the happenings at the Disney company. And if some of those happenings aren't so good, it's hardly the fault of the Rumors board regulars.

As far as this bus fire goes, I don't think it's such a big deal by itself. I can see a reason for concern though when someone who works in the area posts what he did (thanks ztbz).

Probably not everybody. I was directed here from a Debate Board thread, with no idea of what the original topic of this thead was.

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier.

(1) Tyler didn't have to post at all; but he did and said everything he could without violating the terms of his employment. If only all posters and all Disney employees were so considerate and well-spoken. Disney is lucky to have him and so are we.

(2) There's a big difference between concealing information, and simply failing to alert the media and say "GUESS WHAT! One of our buses burned up today! You should have seen it!! PLEASE put it on page one!" Some posters seem to be disappointed that the latter didn't happen, which is absurd.

(3) Does somebody know of a large corporation for which good public relations is an important aspect of their operation, where employees are free to represent the corporation in any way they see fit with no consequences? Unless you can name one, why criticize Disney for being like all the others?

I too was directed here by a debate board thread.... I can say that I love WDW, but do not feel the need to defend it..... I also do not feel the need to be told about every incident that goes on there. I have to trust that WDW maintains a certain level of safety, just like I have to with every airline I fly, state road dept bridge I drive across, that the other guy at the 4-way stop WILL stop, and that the builder of my home didn't put in faulty gas furnace, etc. In the real world stuff happens, it happens at WDW too, but it would be a big waste of my life to spend in worry over what I cannot control.
If I didn't have that trust in the Disney company, then I surely wouldn't go.

I too am one of those people that go to WDW to get away from reality........is that not what WDW sells so well?
I do not want my "magic" to be intruded upon while I am there......... I have to trust WDW will work to solve the problem, if there is one.
call me stupid or irresponsible, but that's how it is for me.

Plano and Viking...You know you're probably right. There have been times though when I have visited the R&N board and the majority of subjects or posts have had a "negative" feel to it. Yes, I realize that not everything can be rosy all of the time, but to constantly harp on Eisner, the hierarchy, or movies sometimes works to steal some of the magic.

On the bus fire...let me put it this way. If it was a huge story it would have been reported. I'm sorry, but I just can't believe that Disney has so much power that they could sweep a newsworthy story under the carpet. The news media is very resourceful, and just because someone in the industry posts this doesn't mean that Disney is trying to cover anything up. For instance, just last night, my DWs commuter train ran over something on the tracks and it split a brake line. The train had difficulty stopping, which on a train I would deem a safety concern. Luckily the train was coming into a station at the time, so it wasn't traveling at a high rate of speed. Now I know that this will not be reported anywhere, so does anyone think if it's not reported that the commuter line is conspiring to cover it up?

If this fire took place on an Orlando metro bus would it be getting the same play here? I bet not. Visitors to Disney have been known to take the Orlando busses to Universal, or other attractions.

sorry I must have been confused ...by your calling the company dishonest a number of times, irresponsible( not caring about the safety of guests), making accusations of covering things up I assumed you meant you did not like the company. personally I would reserve accusations such as these for some one I was NOT fond of. and by buying into the company aren't you suporting it's policies since you are giving it the money to continue ? see if I feel strongly about what I perceive as someone's wrong doing I don't support them monetarily( unless I am bound by law to do that) since I think that would be hypocritcal on my part . but that's just me, we each have our own conscience.

Sure, a thread has a headline about something catching fire, a lot of folks will come take a look. But if you really want to know what people are concerned about, look at the Debate Board---it ain't bus safety, it's thongs and giving birth!!

DemoBri1,
This is off topic, but this thread could probably use a little lightening up anyway. You are from my home town! We're within spitting distance of the World Music Theater...oops, pardon me, the Tweeter Center.

I wouldn't assume it is out of concern. This is more like a train wreck or auto accident. You know you shouldn't slow down and gawk, but you just can't help it! :smooth:
