When I was a kid we had a parked car catch on fire because a window was cracked and a neighborhood kid was smoking nearby, and he saw one of his parents approaching so he flung the cigarette in the window to hide it. It caught the fabric seat cover and from there it got out of control quickly. It doesn't take much. I hope those who suffered smoke inhalation are ok.
