Finger scanning for kids

I want to get my granddaughter a child's Florida resident seasonal AP. Do they allow this? Do they check the child's ID to see if she lives in FL, if we already have Florida residency passes?

Also, as an aside, do they scan kids fingers when they check passes? She is eight

I would say if they check anyone's ID it would be yours and hot hers. I don't know about the "legality" of purchasing a FL Pass for someone who doesn't live in FL, though.

They do not scan fingers for children.

I can just tell you what I was told. I called my local ( Gainesville, Florida) Disney store so I was prepared when I went in to purchase. CM told me that Disney doens't check and ID's on children, only for the adults. And the Cm @ Disney just asked for our driver's licenses when we activated the passes. We have now used the passes about 6 times now and have never been asked for any id's for my 9 year old.

The scanners do not accurately read a childs finger prints, so they don't require children to do the finger scan. The kids still like to stick their fingers in there, though, and the CM's go along with it. All they have to do is stick their AP, or resident pass in the slot, and they will be admitted.

Thanks for the info. I called CRO and they told me they have no way to ID a child. They would just sell me the kids pass with my driver's license. I learned about it from the Unofficial Guide to Disney World.

We have already paid for a 4 day PH. I bought it before I read the book. Can we use this in partial payment for a Seasonal Fl Resident AP?

Also, others have said on this forum that they do indeed scan kids. One CM demanded ID for a child. The supervisor came over and repeated this, but the father was adamant. He didn't show ID and the kid was waved through. Did anyone else encounter the same thing??

Yes, you can upgrade to an AP and apply the 4 day PH to the cost.

The only time I have ever seen anyone asked for ID is when the biometric scanner does not work. I do not remember reading this story so I so not know the details. Maybe the child looked much older than 9. Maybe the child was way over 9 and the biometrics were not working. FWIW, not many children have IDs. Mine does, but I don't carry her passport with me everywhere!
