What is it really for? Does it actually scan your finger? I had bandaids on my fingers one of the days while I was there and the scan let me through?????? :confused3

It measures the length of the fingers and does not check your fingerprints.

It is a biometric scan and measures the length and width of your fingers, not a fingerprint. It is to keep others from using your pass.

It confuses the elderly (and my wife . . .who is not elderly), and makes the entrance line to the park longer.

Really? My 13 year old son grew an inch in 2 weeks this summer. I'll bet his finger would not have scanned the same on day 14 as on day 1 had we been at Disney those 2 weeks. Do they do this for annual passes? Every child would grow considerably over the course of a year.

My wife and I got our APs mixed up once and she got through fine using my AP. I, on the other hand, got bagged by the CM who said "Do you have any identification Susan"? Well, my wife was cracking up while I tried to persuade the CM I wasn't trying to "pull" anything shady, that I had just got our passes mixed up. So, the finger scans are definitely not rocket science or anything like it.

For some reason my mom could not get the machine to work for the first three days. The attendants kept showing her how to do it and would not believe she was doing it correctly until they checked. The machines just did not like her. Of course the rest of us were having a good laugh and having her do finger exercises before going to the entrances.

They didn't work very well when we were there either which made for some very cranky guests. The CM's were doing their best to keep everyone in a good mood - but that's kind of hard to do when you're 12 miles from the sun and it's August

:earboy2:

Hopefully, "they" will perfect the system in the near future.

I'm not sure at what age they start scanning children, but in Feb DD was 13 and she had to do it.
