Finger Print Scan - when?

When is the finger print scan done? I am assuming at first entry. In which case, if I lose my magic band before I get my print scanned anyone could use my ticket off my magic band?

The MB is only a way to access your ticket, it's not carrying the ticket. If you lose your MB go on to your MDE and deactivate until you get your band replaced.

But if someone found it before I realized it was lost and could deactivate it, they could use my ticket -right?

Sure...until you deactivated it.

But if you had an old physical ticket and accidentally dropped it before using it, someone could have used that too. Except that physical tickets wasn't tied to your own account like they are now you would not ever be able to deactivate it. The person finding it would have full use of the ticket until it was used up.

Either way, I find both scenarios unlikely. If someone finds a lost MagicBand, I bet it is highly likely they'd turn it in to lost and found and highly unlikely they'd try to use it for park admission.

Is there a separate line for first-time finger print scans? Just wondering how much extra time it will take the first time through - want to make sure I make that FP+ window!

Finger scans are for park entry not fp. Everyone 10+ does the finger scan, there isn't a setting it up type thing. Touching it the first entry autosets it.

Autoset - got it - thanks - that's what I was looking for. I know it's not used for FP+ but I have some scheduled for arrival day so needed to build in extra time if first entry takes longer.

The first time you use your MB, and the finger scan, it will take about 3 mins..pretty much the same as any other time. As far as making it to your first FP+ return time? Don't forget, there is a window for return, so you have an hour to use it. No need to worry about being on time.

The other thing....if, for some reason, the MB was misplaced, it really can't be used by someone else. First, the finger scan needs to happen. Second, if in a shop, a pin code is needed before the transaction can be completed.
I would imagine that if a MB was to be misplaced, you would notice it fairly quickly and get a new one. They would deactivate the misplaced one.

It takes you 3mins to get through the gate???? It should never take that long for a functioning ticket. 30secs or less is the norm.

Well, I was counting wait time in the line.....sorry for the confusion.

Trust me, your first entry won't take any longer than some others who have been there before and still don't get the process. Or my husband and I when, after almost 60 visits, first got our RFID tickets and had to learn the new monitors. We don't have the Magic Band experience yet and won't for our next trip but once we do have them, it's not going to be an issue.

Never feel like you are taking too much time. The only ones that might feel disgruntled will be other guests but guess what? Somewhere during their trip they will take longer than someone else somewhere. And - you'll never see them again.

It's your vacation! Relax!
