Finger foods and hors d'oeuvres for fall party

Thanks to all you, looks like I won't be needing that "cold" after all. What I don't make for the party, I'll definitely make for here at home. Will have lots of people dropping in during the holidays and I'm tired of serving the same few things over and over. THANK YOU ALL !!! :flower3:

Do you have a recipe for the pumpkin cheese ball? That sounds fun
Honestly I found it on Pinterest. I cannot remember the recipe but the thing that stood out the most is that you rolled the cheese ball in shredded cheddar (there is another receipt with crushed doritos instead) and then you take the stem of a green bell pepper and put it on the top.

Last year I made stuffing muffins for thanksgiving dinner, but they could easily be made into mini-muffins for a pot luck. Find a really good stuffing recipe you love, make it and add a little extra liquid so it's a little bit sticky. Spoon it into a mini muffin tin and stick them in the oven until a little crispy on top. I had a nice apple sausage stuffing that I did as muffins instead of actually stuffing the turkey. I suppose you could even do it with Stove Top if you were in a pinch.

Got to come up with food ideas for a fall party for a civic group I belong to. It's pretty much just finger foods but forks are frequently used. Last party with this group, a woman actually made the crackers that were used with a spread she made. Yes, "home made crackers"! Not going to that extreme but I'd like to find interesting, tasty stuff for fall. Anything you like and are willing to share?

I'm so curious how the crackers tasted since I've never had home made crackers. Were they amazing? I watched an episode of Good Eats with Alton Brown recently and he made cheese crackers. It was a lot of work and he started by making his own sour dough yeast mixture. They would have to be out of this world amazing crackers to go through so much trouble.

They truly were the most delicious crackers I've ever had! The lady who made them attempted to tell me how she made them but so many people were milling about, talking loud and bumping into us...only thing I remember is that she drizzled butter over them as they were crisping up. Didn't ask for the recipe because, from bits and pieces I did hear, it was way more involved than I wanted to deal with.

If homemade cheese straws are similar, then they are delicious -- and difficult. Like deviled eggs or chicken salad, cheese straws are one of those things that people look to find at certain parties, and that Southern grandmothers will shame you for not making from scratch.

As to the OP; I like to make sausage-stuffed mushrooms for fall events. You pre-cook the filling on the stovetop, cool it before stuffing the mushroom caps, then put the stuffed caps under a broiler for a couple of minutes just before serving.

Do you have an Aldis near you? They have the best vegetarian meatballs. I mix a cup of grape jam and a cup of ketchup together (I know it sounds awful, but it’s delicious!) pour over them and heat in crockpot.

This weekend for a football party I made hot crab dip, stuffed mushrooms (with sausage, cream cheese and freshly grated parm), chicken and waffle sliders and meatball parm sliders. They were all hearty and fallish and very well received!

You can cut down the sweetness of this by using bottled chilli sauce instead of ketchup, and of course it works great with regular meatballs too (I use homemade turkey meatballs with spinach and garlic mixed in). Some people sub out the grape jelly for cranberry sauce, which I guess would make it a little more seasonally appealing. This dish is always a winner! :thumbsup2

I use the chilli sauce and it's great with it. I also add some crushed red pepper to give it even more of a kick.

That is what I use too, I've done it with meatballs and little smokies.
It sounds like such an odd combo but it always is a hit.
