November 15: Part 9 - "I have a theory that Snow White's a vampire"
Let's get this parade finished up!
As Amber will tell you, those soldiers are awesome, but also creepy.
Reindeer! I love those reindeer! And you know what's coming next!
Santa Claus himself! Looking jolly, as one Mr Claus might
And thus conclude the Christmas parade!
Now, at that point, there was still a bit of time before the fireworks, so we didn't rush ourselves too much on the way there - if you'll remember, we were all the way back in Frontierland, so we had to walk over to Main Street to get a good view!
We never made it there. On the way, we saw Captain Jack Sparrow out to meet, and so of course Amber wanted to meet him! I'd never seen the whole of the Pirates movie at that time, only the first one and it hadn't interested me all that much, so to me it wasn't a necessity, but figuring we had time, I obliged.
Except as we got in line, he left to go on break. And you know how Captain Sparrow loves his rum - he wasn't gone for ten or twenty minutes, like most characters are when they go on break.
He was gone for forty five minutes!
ARGH!
And we waited for him. Which makes us... I'm not sure what, but probably more desperate to meet a pirate than anything else!
To be honest, had I known he'd be gone that long, I would have left the line and just come back to it later - or not at all, it wouldn't have broken my heart.
But the longer we waited, the more annoyed I got - and ultimately, the more determined to stay I was! I may have a contrary mind, but I'd rather keep on waiting than be told I've just wasted half an hour waiting in a line!
We did end up chatting with some of the people in line with us, which were pretty nice and fun. We joked about how long it was taking, and joked about the horrible view we got of the fireworks once the show started. Because yes - when Holiday Wishes started, we were still stuck in line. And to make it better, there was a tree in the way!
FINALLY, Jack came back out. And I'll admit to this - although I can't say I would wait that long again, especially if it means missing the fireworks, to meet him, he was one of the best characters we've met to date.
His voice was spot on. His mannerism was awesome. He really was the character as anyone could be, and he was hilarious.
He noticed one of my pins, which features the Princesses (Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, Ariel and Jasmine) and he went on a rant about each and every one of them, and why none of them were trustworthy, including gems such as "That's not even Cinderella's castle!" or "I have a theory that Snow White is a vampire".
He was a great character to meet, which lifted my mood greatly as we bid him goodbye and went on our way to attempt and catch the last few minutes of the fireworks.
In the end, we didn't. We tried to get on the Magic Carpets to catch the last few glimpses of it, as one might do with Dumbo, but by that time it was too late. We still ended up riding the carpets, figuring we might as well!
And then we headed on our way back toward Main Street.
Oh, lit up Castle. You are beautiful and I miss you.
We watched the show on the castle stage for a few minutes, but at that point I wanted to get some warmth more than anything else. I was getting progressively colder and colder, to the point where Amber even gave me permission to buy a sweatshirt if need be.
I resisted for the most part though, because I didn't want to spend that much money on something I wouldn't wear much (I'm not much of a sweatshirt wearer), but we still ended up going through the shops at some point to look for one because I was freezing.
I didn't end up getting anything, because I couldn't find anything I liked, so we just moved on to our next ordeal of the evening!
Now, we had met the princesses that very morning, but during party nights, there's some special guests we had not gotten to meet yet.
The princes!
The wait time was very short, and we soon realized that the only reason it actually even took some time to meet them was because they were taking groups pretty much just one at a time, making it a one on one encounter (or well, two on two?)
First up were Rapunzel and Flynn!
Rapunzel was just as excitable as she had been in the morning, and she and Flynn were great together! They were kidding around a lot with Aurora and Prince Philip to, who were right next to them, and it's always awesome to watch face characters interact with one another!
Amber did ask Flynn what was in his satchel too, and he leaned closer to stage whisper "I'll show you, but don't tell these guys about it", nodding toward Aurora and Philip, to which Philip called back "We have names, Flynn!"
After getting a glimpse at the lost princess' tiara, we moved out to meet the next couple!
As you can tell, there was nobody behind us at this time because Rapunzel and Flynn were having some free time to just play around!
Finally, we walked up to Snow White and Prince Charming. Snow was precious as always, the Prince a bit more quiet, but they were both really nice as well. Overall, it really had been a great day for character interaction!
I have a lack of pictures to show through what we did during the evening, but I think we may have ridden more rides somewhere in between the missed fireworks and meeting the princesses (and some cookie eating and hot chocolate drinking, too!), because at that point, it was getting pretty close to midnight, and we were getting tired!
We did make it a point to meet one last couple though!
Can you guess?
Mickey and Minnie! Don't they look super adorable in that outfit? I do think I still prefer their Animal Kingdom winter gear, but they look very fab in this suit and dress as well! You can tell they were all dressed up to receive guests at their Christmas party!
Once we left the big Mouse and his lady, we decided to call it a night. The party was drawing to an end, and it was just getting colder and colder anyhow, so we left the park and headed to the buses waiting area. It didn't take too long for a French Quarter bus to come along, and soon we were on our way back to the hotel.
