Looking for some very general advice -
I just moved to a new city, and I'm looking for running trails that are generally safe for a woman to run by herself. I moved from a more rural area, so all of my prior running training was in wide open spaces and on very quiet, out-of-the-way roads.
I've asked around work to get some ideas, but I'm wondering how others deal with this issue when moving to a new area. Maybe reaching out to some local running clubs? I'm a slow runner so I've been reluctant to find running group. Right now I'm sticking to the treadmill at my gym until I can figure out the safety issue.
Also, does anyone carry pepper spray when they run? I have a running belt with pockets so it'd probably be relatively easy to carry.
