Just announced animated short and I'm disappointed Destino didn't win. Who would have thought that some Australian clay mation cartoon would beat Walt Disney and Salvador Dali?
Yay Nemo!! My sister and her best friend are obsessed with Nemo...they've both seen it about a million times. I've actually seen parts of it here and there, but never actually the whole thing. One day I swear I'm going to watch the whole thing.
One of my online friends I was IMing at the time (not from the DIS, obviously) actually laughed at me when I said if Nemo doesn't win, something's wrong.
Meeko -- never even heard of the animated short, so I couldn't say on that one.
Destino was a short that was supose to be made back in the 1940s and was a collaboration between Disney and Salvador Dali. There was a bit of animation done back then (I think a minute, if even that) but it was shelved when Walt thought it wouldn't turn a profit. Last year, Roy Disney lead a group of artists and finished the infamous unfinished short and that;s what Destino is. I've never seen it since it's only been released in film festivals as of yet where it won lots of awards, but I was rooting for it becuase 1) I've always been intrigued by it ever since it was unfinished and 2) It was Roy's last production at Disney.
