Finding MK NYE firework spot

Planning to spend NYE with my cousin at MK. We are going in with all of the patience and tolerance there is for crowds as our mindset.

Nonetheless, we would prefer not to stake out a spot on Main Street and stand for several hours waiting for the firework display to begin.

Having a perfect view of the castle is not essential to us, but we would like to be able to countdown and see some fireworks to ring in 2017 even if it isn't the greatest of views.

Should at least a portion of the fireworks show be able to be seen from anywhere inside the park? And will the audio of the show be played on the speakers throughout the park?

Wouldn't mind ringing in the new year from another land (Frontierland, Tomorrowland, or just about anywhere other than Main Street) in order to spend less time standing in one single spot.

You can see and hear it from anywhere inside the park. Our favorite non Main Street spots are by the Beast's castle, by Splash Mountain and by Space Mountain

I can always find a good spot, but what I don’t like is the crowding and shoving after the show as most everyone leaves at the same time. I worry about the young children becoming separated or injured if there were to be a panic. This year we are thinking about just relaxing in the park for an hour or two before leaving.

One spot that was too overly crowded was the bridge walkway over by Big Thunder/Splash. The one where you're looking at Tom Sawyer island.

Near the Crystal Palace is a good spot that's close, but not too close.

Also, behind the castle is a good place. You can see the fireworks.

For the 4 I was able to get a spot behind the castle about an hour before my friend grabbed some food and we sat and eat and people watched

that's what we do. We just hang back and people watch. On very crowded nights (like NYE) we wait for over an hour

On July 4th in the past they have opened up extra space behind Buzz Lightyear/Main Street before the fireworks, not too early, but once it fills up around the Hub they have opened it up. They even had snack cart back there and you could exit from there after the fireworks, we always hang around in the park to avoid the mad rush out. I wonder if they do that on NYE? Gives a partial castle view around the building outlines of Main Street and can still see perimeter very well. We will be there too this year on NYE, hope you have a great trip! I love your outlook about taking the patience and tolerance for crowds, that is also our mindset, should be a lot of fun!

This is our first ever trip over NYE. We have been MULTIPLE times at other times of the year, but never at a high traffic time. SO...what I am gathering from these comments is that Main St. will get so crowded that you absolutely CAN NOT get through?!? Is it really necessary to stake out a spot hours in advance just to get in somewhere on Main St? I don't have to be front and center, but somewhere in the hub, down Main St. or even over by Casey's or Plaza would be fine. Is it unrealistic to think that I can be in Fantasyland at 10:50pm for dinner at BOG and then make our way to Main St. when we are done?

Last NYE the cast members were diverting crowds before they even made it to Main Street from about 10:00 onward; using the overflow walkway that runs behind and parallel to Main Street on both sides. Tomorrow Terrace was blocked off to through traffic in both directions. Disney has some overflow viewing areas that are only opened up during high demand events.

Yes it is totally unrealistic to think that you can do that on NYE. Think MOBS of people touching each other on Main Street. Scary and unpleasant for me

Just to give you an idea.
I was at Mk 2 Saturdays ago and people were sitting, holding spots at 8pm for the 10pm Wishes, yes it was a crowded day but it will seem like an empty park compared to NYE
