We live in Chicago and my 13 year old step son is in special education. One area were he shines is in acting, he is just so animated in his facial and body expressions. His school has been great in providing him an outlet for his creativity. Unfortunately the school has no summer programs, and I want him to be in an activity that he feels great at.
If anyone has any suggestions on how I can find a school or program that will meet his needs I would greatly appreciate it. TIA

Talk to the music teachers and drama teachers at your school and surrounding schools - middle schools, high schools, etc. in your town and others. They may have good insight or leads. I know the middle school drama director in our town runs a camp over hte summer.

Does your area have any children's theater groups? I would think Chicago would have at least one. I'm sending my son to a 3 week theater camp this summer that's run through our local Children's Musical Theater. You can also check into adult theater groups. They often run camps or classes for kids.

You could also look into organizing one yourself - it has to start somewhere! See if there are other students who would be interested, see if any of the high school students in drama club would like a job, see if the high school has any space open in the auditorium, etc.

You live in Chicago - there is bound to be tons of acting classes for kids! I'm in the NYC area, and I can't even count how many we have. There are also discussion boards out there - do a google search.
