I would like to purchase a stroller to bring with us to Disney in a couple of weeks. My son is soon to be 5. I know that they are available to rent, but we are driving and I would rather have my own so that we can use it at the resort also. He hasn't had a stroller for a couple years and I cannot find one that he fits in comfortably!! Does anyone know of a fairly lightweight stroller that can hold a 5-year-old? He is about 40 lbs and 42 inches tall. Any help would be great!!!

A Maclaren stroller would be best for you. It is great for older kids, since it holds 55 pounds per seat. You will get a few more WDW trips out of it!!! Plus, Maclaren's have pretty good resale value, when you are done with it.

I have a Maclaren Quest and they are GREAT! If you don't care about a recline system, everyone raves about the Volo which is very lightweight and doesn't recline. It even has a carry strap!!!!!

I have never heard of ANYONE being disappointed with a Maclaren. Lots of places are having sales on 2005 models now. You can even go to ebay...there are TONS of brand new ones on there!!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!! :thumbsup2

I just purchased a 2005 Volo (new) on ebay, and it came to $91 including shipping. The same model was at my local Babies 'R Us for $99 plus tax (which would make it about $108 where I live).

We bought it specifically for DD4 to use in Disney. It's great, by the way. I wish I'd bought one earlier. It folds up easily, has an attached carrying strap, and a small basket for storage. The hood is standard on the 2005 model. And, yes, it holds up to a 55 pound child. A really cool thing about it is that the seat is mesh, which I think is actually good for WDW because if it gets rained on, there's no cushion to be soggy.

My DD loves it now and thinks it's really cool. She calls it her Disney stroller.

Just bought my Mac Quest! Haven't used it yet but I know I LOVE It! Bought a Peg Perego Aria last month which I love but just wasn't right for disney (need more room in the car!). My son is 3 1/2 and I expect to get lots of use out of it! I got mine from www.babydealz.com. Free shipping, great prices.

Thanks for the input-I knew I could count on some Disney moms to steer me in the right direction!! :cool1:

I'm using my original stroller, it's a Graco, I used to snap the car seat into it. Maybe you could find one at a garage sale. I looked at Babies R Us and it just seemed silly to spend $100t for a 5 year old. Thought about renting at the parks and that too seems like money being tossed out the window. I took the old stroller out of the basement and she still fits and she is 49 pounds.

You could also try one of those baby renting places in Orlando and rent a stroller from there.
