We were the same way. I thought about it for a long while and the F&F Discount sold the deal. We probably should have waited until next year, but just couldn't pass up the deal..

Hi the friend and family discount is if you are referred by a member then you recieve 15% off your purchase at SSR.It ends Febuary 1st.It is an Awesome deal.We have been members for 4 years and wished we would have bought sooner.
If you need a referral just let me know and I will give you the info you need to recieve it.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Well, Disney Credit does move quickly. We called yesterday to bank and make ressies. There was a note saying we had to speak to credit before we could bank, but that we could make ressies. The frustrating part was credit was unavailable most of the day, and I had to ask them to track the person down today since my schedule is just too crazy to play telephone tag.

Joan was very nice, and it turns out they just need a little more paperwork to correct a reporting error on a credit report, but everything looks good for closing once that's done. Unfortuantely, the error that has to be corrected was caused by the IRS, so we'll see how quickly it takes, but Joan said it's a standard correction they should be ready to do.

And Member Services said they'll let us bank up to 100% of the points once we actually close, even though 1/31 is the deadline.

Almost home . . .

Oh, and our first stay will be OKW studio on 4/28 before our Disney cruise, and then 5/6-12 at a BWV studio preferred view after the cruise. Yippeee!

(And I swore I'd never use a dancing banana . . .)

I received my packet on 1/3, shipped it on 1/4, and Disney received it on 1/5. I received a letter yesterday thanking me for completing my documents and that I would receive written confirmation that my financing went through. I called accounting today and was told that my closing is on 2/27 - my 56th birthday! I was so excited.
My credit isn't the best. I have a decent income and a secure job. I have lots of credit cards, but was denied a Disney Visa numerous times. I pay my bills on time and pay more than the minimum on my credit cards. I was really worried about financing going through, but figured, why would they deny me when I am doing a direct debit? But still, I can understand other's anxiety. I am so happy about this - did it in my own name since DH wanted no part of it. Now I am alreadying thinking of adding onto my 250 points! What a sickness. This is how I started years ago when we bought AP's. We have visited 4 times a year for many years now due to that AP and our love of Disney.

Thanks for the update guys... I received my big box yesterday, dh gets back into town tonight and hopefully we can get ours back Thursday or Friday... just need to hunt down a notary public. Hope DH doesn't reconsider when he sees all the paperwork! We're also financing and I just feel like this thing won't be a done deal until I get the thumbs up from Disney Credit.

My temporary membership cards did not arrive-- the little place in the folio where they were supposed to be was empty. Will need to remedy that... am going to the World in two weeks, it might come in handy!

I joined recently and financed too. While this is in fact a mortgage, I think the credit criteria are more in line with buying a car - if you have a decent/good credit score and have proof of employment income then you should have no problem getting approved. It should only take them a day or two to review your application an make a decision.
