I have entered the new realm of photography with my new D50!!!! I also got the 18-55mm kit lense, wireless remote, samsonite camera bag, D50 field guide, and memory card holder.

Congrats. I've the D50 for over a year and I love it. I have the 18-55, 28-80 and 70-300. I just got the SB-600 flash. Out of all the equipment, the flash is the best. It makes a HUGE difference is light quality.

Also, if you haven't already, check out nikonians.org. It's a great resource on just about everything. There are also user forums where people will critique your pictures.

Ok, I lied, having the 18-200 may be the best thing to have with the camera then the flash. Too bad the lens is more than the camera body. I am aiming to get that lens this year.

Another thing to note is now you are going to go broke, and develop NAS, (got to nikonions.org to find out what that is. ) In the next month I am going to be spending a considerable amount of money on two lenses, the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 and the Sigma 10-20 Wide. Now I could save this money for things like food and clothing, but I can stand to lose some weight, and I think I can go a year or so without buying new clothes

I am also a member of the d50 club!! Went to Colorado for Christmas and took over 1000 pictures!!! And that's not counting the ones I deleted!!

Welcome to the D50 club. I've been a member for a few days short of 1 year. I love it. I believe up to about 4400 pictures including around 1400 at Disney back in June.

I opted not for the D50 kit lens and instead got the D70s "kit" lens, 18-70mm. I upgraded from a P&S and a Nikon film SLR (N70) and already had a long zoom. I recently replaced that with the new Nikkor 70-300mm VR lens (which is VERY good). Along the way this past year I also got the 50mm f/1.8, SB-600, Gary Fong Lightsphere II diffuser, wireless remote, new camera bag, 4 SD cards, 250 GB portable hard drive with card reader, 2nd internal 200GB HD (those files add up quickly) and 2 days ago I ordered the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro. Yes NAS has full control over my body. There isn't an end in sight as I have my eyes on the Sigma 10-20mm, Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 and a Sigma 24mm or 28mm f/1.8.

My DW is threatening to buy more shoes if I continue to buy more camera equipment. Let the battle begin!!!!
