Finally! The New Weight Watchers Program!!!

Dan, I'm SO glad you're here to give us the low-down on the new plan!

My meeting isn't until Saturday. (I use the term "my meeting" pretty loosely, as I've been awol for months... :o ) Now I'm excited about getting myself out of bed and heading to the meeting to get the new materials and hear about the new program.

But, as I ponder the differences between the new plan and Flex, I still think I'm a Flex girl. Maybe I'll be a lower-carb Flex girl.

Thanks a million for being our own personal WW leader! :teeth: princess:

Ironically, I can now go for leader training by Weight Watchers rules but between wedding, honeymoon, and surgery, I can't get the time off for leader training!!! :)

So I'm thrilled to be able to help out here.

I'm DEFINITELY still flexing. I have no concept of portion control, so Core just isn't for me.

(They REALLY hammered it to us that we have to make this disclaimer, but I do believe it....)

Neither of the plans is bad! They're both wonderful! It's all a matter of personal preference when you're choosing one. I think my fiancée will benefit greatly from Core because she KNOWS when to stop. She just doesn't know what foods to eat.

The deli meats (even the healthy ones) are loaded with sodium and preservatives. They're not unprocessed. They're TOTALLY processed. A whole turkey is not. It's a fresh turkey and nothing has been added to it.

Both statements make complete sense!

Thanks again Dan!!

Thanks for the info. I went on the WW boards but the people were really kind of snitty about giving information as you did. I just want to say that the CORE diet looks kind of like a modification of the original WW diet. I have done WW so much that I probably bought Florine Mark her mansion in the Hamptons. In fact, I remember when it was just a diet mimeographed on a few sheets and this goes back to Jean Naditch around 35 yrs ago!! I know when ww introduced more carbs about 8 yrs ago it really slowed down my loss. So now I stay on Flex Points AND just cut carbs.

Anyone wish they could just go to sleep take a pill and wake up 50 lbs thinner??

Check out Dottie'sWeightLoss Zone. I hope this does not impact all the point values etc on that site, it is great.

Thanks for the advance info Dan...I have my meeting on Thursday for the new program. I'm leary of changing something that has been working, but maybe I'll give it a shot one of those weeks when I don't see a weight loss.

Sounds like an interesting program...but i sure don't want to give up my fat free ham sandwiches!

[my personal reccomendation. Weight Watchers does NOT endorse this!!!! Follow Core, but use the points target that's been set for you on Flex. So if your points target has been 24, eat 24 points worth of the Core Foods. When you get to 24 points, either stop eating, or use those 35 extra points.

.

This is exactly what I was thinking of doing. Seems like the best of both worlds. I know that I could not do the core plan, because if I was eating potatoes, for example, I would eat until there was nothing left. My weight loss has been pretty steady at about 2 pounds a week, so I'm kind of scared to mess with anything.

Thanks for all of the insights on this program, Dan.

I'm trying it this week, but as another person at my weekly meeting said, "If I knew when to stop eating without having a guideline, would I BE here??" ;)

That's a very good point, and exactly why I can't do it.

But I did try it, and for two weeks, I ate healthier than I'd ever eaten. :)

It does seem similiar to south beach except no mention of nuts???

I think I am going to give it a try... I have been counting points for 18 months and I have a rough idea of what portions should be but that is exactly what brought me to WW I knew what to eat but just not how much I should eat. I think giving it a try to "spice" things up a little might be good... change my way of thinking a little.

I would even just take a "nap" for even 25 lbs to zap away ::yes::

I am "making some sense" of this, with all your great insight - Dan - thanks so much.

You forgot to tell us how much you lost when you tried the new format for 2 weeks.

I actually didn't lose that much. About 1.5 pounds after two weeks. Which for me is NOT much at all. But I know that I was not following it correctly. Even after almost 3 years, portion control still eludes me. Points are very much necessary for me to keep myself in check.

Wow- I took 2 months off and look what they went and did. I remember a few months ago reading about an upcoming change in August..........but I never expected something like this.

For me- I don't think the new plan will work. I'll stick with the flex. I usually eat fairly healthy but I eat peanut butter, nuts, raisins, whole wheat bread daily. I find that when I am hungry I can eat 1 tbsp peanut butter and a piece of all natural whole wheat bread and it lasts for hours. It's only 3.5 points for both, but if I had that once a day (I usually have that as a breakfast) then I would be out of points. We also have pizza every Friday night. That's another 14 points. 35 points wouldn't last me the whole week.

Some day's I think it would be easy to eat off the lists, but for everyday life the flex points work and I can eat what I want. It's a good concept and I think I still want to play around with it sometime when I know I don't have any events coming up.
