Only had to work my way past 3 people, but I finally talked to a Registered Nurse.. Doc was "too busy" to talk to me..

When I informed her of everything that was going on - the problems my DH was having (he had a real tough time around 4 a.m. this morning) - and what the Respiratory Therapist said, she pretty much responded like I had six heads or something.. When I went on to tell her that the RP sent them a report she let out this BIIIIIIG "sigh" and said, "Hang on..."

Took forever for her to come back and then she says, "Oh yes.. I see it here in his chart.. We received it on the 23rd... Hmmm.. Oh yes, now I see - it says 'Patient needs immediate re-evaluation by doctor due to significant changes in his medical condition..' Normally we don't review these reports until the patient comes in for their next visit.. "

Say what?????????? I was the medical records clerk for an internal medicine doctor and NOTHING went in a chart until the doctor reviewed it and initialed it!!!!!!

I so much as told this nurse so and her response was, "Well that's not the way we do things here.. Hang on while I see when we can get him in.."

More waiting - then, "Be here 10:30 tomorrow morning.. He won't be able to see his own doctor because he won't be here.. And if his breathing problems get any worse take him to the ER.." Click....

All I've got to say is, "Will you guys all chip in for my bail if I find it necessary to inflict bodily harm to those people tomorrow??"

I believe they call it "justifyable homicide". Go for it. I'll be glad to chip in.

I can't believe the things these doctors get away with.

Call me, I'll come bail you out. Although I've met you..do you really think you could do damage to anyone LOL?

LOL.. Are you insinuating that I'm a wimp just because I look like I belong on a "Save The Children" poster???

I'll whack them with my DH's portable oxygen tank.. How's that?

Keep your cell phone on..............

If the bail bondsman will take my Disney visa, you're as good as free!

Good luck tomorrow! And keep your chin up!

C. Ann, I hope all goes well today! My advice - take Silly String & spray anyone who gives you a hard time!! You'll get your point across but I don't think they'll charge you with assault.....:p

First, I would NEVER go back to that doctor again. I don't care if I had to drive an hour for each visit. The bottomline -- the money from you and your insurance company -- is all that matters at times.

You can't change the doctor and how they operate. You can only change how you respond. Are you going to respond by continuing to "purchase" that doctor's services or find another place to give your money? I suggest moving on.

That would be a great idea - if we could.. My DH has to get all of his healthcare through the VA now.. All other avenues have been exhausted..

Oh man, that phone call would have left my eyes bugging out!!

Good luck today and please, as my mom always told me and my sisters when we were kids, PLEASE don't kill anyone today!! LOL
:p

C. Ann, I think between all of us, you're going to go free. I cannot believe some people.

As I am posting from my lonely jail cell..........

Nah! Only kidding!:teeth:

Actually things went quite well yesterday.. Don't know if it was because we saw a different doctor or because my DD showed up too and we just wouldn't get out of the doctor's face and kept bombarding him with questions.. LOL

He did a THOROUGH examination of my DH from head-to-toe - something that hasn't been done over there since DH was in the hospital in July of 2002.. I had also typed out all of my concerns - as well as a list of the meds - and after reading all of that and doing the examination, the doctor ordered a urine test, some blood tests and then went and got ANOTHER doctor to come and look at my DH..

Basically they said that they can't increase the O2 right now because DH's lungs are so bad it would actually cause more problems than it would cure.. However, they decided to change some of the inhalers and add nebulizers.. DH's at rest O2 level was much better yesterday and a RT will be coming to the house on Monday to walk us through the whole nebulizing process..
Neither doctor felt he had fluid in his lungs, but there was some bad wheezing which could have been made worse by the heat yesterday..

As for the swelling in his legs and feet, they have upped his water pills to 3 a day and they want him to come back to be rechecked on May 12th - rather than his regular appt. way off in July..

DH was very happy with the outcome and happy that they took the time to do a more thorough assessment of the situation.. He was afraid they would put him in the hospital and very relieved that they didn't..

Last night my son-in-law came over and put our air conditioners in - it was SOOO hot in the house - and after they were on a bit my DH was feeling pretty chipper.. He knew I had to come up here to the lake this morning to meet with one of the utility guys and insisted that I still come and stay for the weekend.. Just to be on the safe side, I called his DD and asked her to keep an eye on him and she said she would.. When I left this morning he was in the kitchen making his breakfast and whistling up a storm.... Sure - go around whistling after you've scared me half to death - LOL..

So all in all, I think he's in much better shape than he was last week and hopefully the nebulizing treatments and the increase in his water pills will make him feel even better.. I'm so glad we got him in there and that he was seen by more than one doctor.. It's made BOTH of us feel a little more secure than we had been feeling..

Thanks again for all of the support.. Keep your fingers crossed that these new developments remain positive..

I've got a jar full of change I'm willing to part with for bail ;) . There policy sounds crazy because our Dr also looks at everything and immediately calls if there's a problem. Hope things go well at the appointment. Let us know.

C. Ann: You and your husband continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Thank God you finally got some answers and decent ones at that. Prayers, prayers and more prayers are on the way!
