The Magic Kingdom's Plaza Restaurant will be offering more walk-up availability later this summer.

Beginning July 17 2016, reservations will only be available between 11am and 12pm. For the remainder of the operating day, the restaurant will be open for walk-in guests.

But the other walk up location the skipper canteen went to reservations.

Quit trying to be logical! :badpc:

Seriously, maybe The Plaza doesn't do as well so they figure it can handle the overflow?

Not a good idea. The Plaza is our MK favorite eatery, and we have always needed to make reservations. Not being able to plan a late afternoon meal is really going to change up our plans. At least our upcoming trip we have BOG dinner reservations so all is not lost.

We're at Disney in August, and we have 2 confirmed ADRs at the Plaza after 12pm ... now what? Are they no longer valid? Does anyone know?

Thanks!

You need to call and ask Disney that.

Anyone who answers here is speculating.

"For those who have already pre-booked their reservations, those will continue to be honored, however new reservations not within that one hour window will not be able to be made"

I think this will be interesting. DH and I were there this past February and did not have an ADR, we had never eaten there and wanted to try it. We were told it would be a 2 hour wait, they took my cell number and said they would send a text and we would have 15 minutes (I think, it may have been 30) to get back to the podium once we got the text. So we did things in the park for a couple of hours and went back to see where we were on the list, we still had another 30 minute wait before we got our text. We didn't mind the wait since we did not have ADRs, I may have been able to get an ADR last minute, but didn't even look. We were starting dessert when Wishes started and I was able to step outside and watch (DH stayed behind to eat ice cream, which is priority for him over fireworks, lol).

Maybe our wait would have been less no one had an ADR and it was all walk up, but the seating area is so small. I can see this having an hour wait most of the time. The cell phone text/ paging system could work I guess.

Have a reservation for 1:30 in October. Even if it's still honored, I'm a little concerned that I'll have to wait an extra amount of time because of the number of walk-ins that will get seated between 12:00 and 1:30.

Correct already booked reservations will be honored.

False. Already booked reservations will be honored.

Even when you call Disney you don't always get the right answers.

No they don't, but... if you get there and they refuse the reservation quoting a forum won't do you any good at all, having correspondence from Disney will.

So always go to Disney and get it in writing. No exceptions.

The food quality of the plaza was so bad the last time we went...in comparison to years past...that you would have to pay me to walk up.

Where have you heard that before?

It will be interesting to see if the Plaza is more successful as a walk-up than Skipper Canteen. The menu is definitely more accessible. I'm glad to see that they haven't given up on the idea.

Actually, he wasn't false. Any responses outside an actual Disney response would be speculative .

In actuality, any responses we offer here would be conjecture.

I will call this week, let everyone know the response.

I'm assuming that a reservation would be honored, but considering how Disney's been operating lately - who knows.

Thanks

But even Disney responses might not be true. You can call Disney and talk to person A and get one answer then call 10 minutes later talk to person B and get a different answer.

In over 30 years of going to WDW I've never eaten there so maybe I'll try it now. I was shocked when they decided to switch Skipper's over to requiring ADRs, I liked the fact they didn't.
