Finally soneone in management got the message!!

But even Disney responses might not be true. You can call Disney and talk to person A and get one answer then call 10 minutes later talk to person B and get a different answer.

Absolutely agree. I was more referring to an actual statement from Disney, one that they'd release more than likely through TPs and publicists -

The Magic Kingdom's Plaza Restaurant will be offering more walk-up availability later this summer.

Beginning July 17 2016, reservations will only be available between 11am and 12pm. For the remainder of the operating day, the restaurant will be open for walk-in guests.

This is horrible to me, because this is one of our favorite restaurants and I would like a reservation. I don't see why they can't still take 20% reservations and leave most of the tables available for walk-up.

Plus doesn't Tony's have a bigger capacity to handle walk ups?

Just letting everyone know Skipper's is not 100% requiring ADRs, you can still walk up. I had a reservation today and waiter said it sits at barely 40% capacity all day. They were actively trying to get people to come inside. Even said they still have at least 1 or 2 tables every turn that say "this is too fancy we don't understand the menu" and get up and walk out. Very sad to see when the staff was great and food was one of the top meals of the trip.

Skipper Robert even goes out of his way to make amazing ice coffee since ice coffee is not on their menu.

Well ... if I don't get a straight answer from Disney regarding my existing Plaza reservations - will have to give skipper a try.

My wife is Italian ... If I tell her they have ice coffee ... they could be serving garbage on a plate - as long as it was followed by an ice coffee ---- we're all good!
:-)

I've found most restaurants will make it even if it isn't on the menu. I like coffee with dessert and with the Florida heat it has to be iced. Every restaurant figured something out but Skipper Robert went above and beyond just pouring hot coffee over ice.

To me this might be a positive! I miss the old pre-advance adr required/free dining days!!! Deciding the morning of -where we want to eat and which park to tour. If you like the Plaza, are heading to MK for the day you simply go early ..first thing and secure that reservation like we did in the old days. Easy peasy! I would love them keeping some more walk-up availability at all restauraunts. Would ease me heartburn with the advance planning which park I want to visit wayyyy in advance. Maybe they are using this as a test of doing that!

But when I hear walk up, it doesn't imply that I can go to the podium at 11 and request to be seated at 5:30 or whenever I may want to eat dinner. I wouldn't be as disappointed if that is how it plays out, but with Disney these days, you just never know.

I just spent 4 days in they parks and with 0 pre-planning was able to eat at Cape May Cafe, Captain's Grill, Wolfgang Puck (not sure which side), Skipper's Canteen, and Beaches and Cream. We also had many other options include Hoop dee doo Review, Boathouse, the italian place at the Boardwalk and many other in park restaurants.

I will call this week, let everyone know the response.

I'm assuming that a reservation would be honored, but considering how Disney's been operating lately - who knows.

Thanks

Just called WDW Dining - spoke with Bonnie (June 13th 7:01 EST) - confirmed that existing reservations will be honored. The Disney rep - looked it up - read it from a script/note in her system.

Didn't request email/written confirmation; I'm satisfied with the response I got.

At one time it wasn't possible. Guess that tells you something.

I've never been when I couldn't get a sit down at all. It is possibly because we are 2 adults who aren't picky when we eat so much easier to fit a 3/4 as a late lunch or a 9/10.

I'm talking long time past.

Yeah but I guess folks would rather eat QS than Tony's, hence why they now have a lunch MSEP/FP+ package.
