I apologize if this was already posted but I just ran across this on the AP website.

So Cal residents can now pay for their AP monthly, no interest! This is great news since I was hoping they would do this. Sea World does and it makes it so much easier to pay out a little a month than the whole lump sum at once.

Here's the link
http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dis...ualPassholderUngatedMonthlyPaymentsDetailPage

But basically it's $11.17/month for So Cal Select, $14.50/month So Cal, $20.75/month for Deluxe, and $30.75 for Premium.

Wish they offered it in Sept when I finally renewed our AP. :confused3 For the first time we got So Cal Select (the cheapest) since I couldn't really afford the over $600 it would have cost to get DD's and mine, with parking. If they had offered it back then I would have either gotten the So Cal AP or the Deluxe. At least I can do it next year. :goodvibes

We are in Northern CA and if they would do soemthing like this I would so do it. We would go more often as well.

We just renewed our passes with the offer. I hope they keep it. I hate that mine renews Christmas week. Not really a budget friendly time for it. You have your choice of putting money down or not and then that plus the level pass you get (mine is Deluxe) determines your monthly payment. You can also go back to pay it off at any time during the year by going to the ticket booth. I will most likely do that in the spring when my bills are less and tax refund comes in.

It is ridiculous that Northern California residents are kept out of this offer.
It does not make for any good sense to me, for that to be the case.

You're right-it doesn't seem fair. :confused3 I would think it could apply to all AP, no matter where they live. Maybe this is just a test and if it works well, they'll expand it. :tink:

Come on, you know Disneyland has something against us Northerners. First the newsletter and now this. ;)

Northern Californians are NOT left out of the offer. They are left out of the Southern CA passholders but we are eligible for the upper 2 levels of passes. I posted a conversation with the manager of the ticket division over the weekend on this very topic. All you have to do is buy your one day pass tell them you want the payment plan. They will get a supervisor to do an override. Then you take your one day ticket to the annual pass area and they will set you up.

That's good to know. :goodvibes The way it's posted on their website clearly shows that it's only available to So Cal. residents only (not just on 2 So Cal AP).

However, as pigletforever posted on her referenced thread, it looks like you can get the monthly payment plan if you ask for a supervisor. I wonder, does that apply to everyone (like Utah, for example) or only No Ca.?

I am surprised that they can override what their own webside says but I'm glad for all of you in No Cal. (and other states?) that you can get the payment plan as well. Now I just wonder if I can get the payment plan if I upgrade my AP? (spread out the $$ just a little :confused3 )

The supervisor I talked to indicated it was only for CA residents only and agreed that it was bad wording by makking it sound like it was for So CA res only. She said they had been getting calls all day from No CA residents asking about exceptions.

I had read the other thread. However, when I had read again, that it was only for So. Ca. residents and had read that as well on Dl.'s website, that is where the confusion came into play.

Is this available online? I got a postcard in the mail today, suggesting that I renew online because it's so convenient, and it touts the monthly payments option. At checkout, I don't see a place to differentiate between monthly payments and paying in full. I called and the representative wasn't even aware that renewal online was an option! Anybody have any ideas?

I'm curious. Okay, I got my first AP this past October (a Premium). So let's say Oct. 2009 rolls around and I don't have the whopping $389 (or more) to plunk down all at once to renew. If I ask for the payment plan to renew, does the AP take full effect right away? In other words, even if I have only paid $32 of what a Premium would be to renew, can I start using it for discounts immediately or do they not take effect until it is all paid off? It almost seems too easy for someone to take advantage of the system and use all the AP discounts and benefits without having paid for the whole thing yet, and then stiffing DLR by not paying them the rest of the amount due after they have already gone to DLR. I wonder if DLR only allows the monthly payments for people whose credit scores are good/adequate? Meaning, they may do a quick credit check first (as many places do) to be sure they can trust the guest to pay for the AP. At least, if the full benefits of it were not available until it was all paid off, it would discourage people from stiffing Disney and paying it off sooner.

I'd like to know the same thing! :) Maybe someone will find out...

I would think all of the AP perks take effect right away. They finance it for 12 months, so if they waited til you paid it off then your AP would expire!

I'm sure, say you get your AP in October, put your down payment and November comes around, you pay November's payment and now it's December and you don't pay December's payment and you go to DL in January, your AP probably has it on there that you didn't make your payment so they don't let you in... :confused3

I'm not sure about a credit check though. I remember reading that they
don't... Disney is very trusting...? :confused3

I was thinking more along the lines of how easy it would be for someone to get the AP using the payment plan, go to DLR immediately after they make the first payment on it, take advantage of all the discounts and perks on that one trip, and then stiff DLR by never making another payment on it after that, and then it won't matter because they don't need to make another trip. They've had their trip. It's horrible to think people would be like that but it is such a scary economy, I can see people trying to do crazy things like that out of desperation. That is why I wondered if Disney had any sort of method of protecting themselves, either by a simple credit check or anything else. Maybe not. As you say, Courtney, they may be very trusting (translation: desperate to lure in visitors in this flailing economy!:rotfl: :rotfl: )

I'm sure Disney has thought it all out. I did this years ago with Sea World and the agreement I signed was for 12 monthly payments posted to a credit card. Another option was automatic debit from checking account. When you sign up for the monthly payment plan you will sign a contract that you agree to pay the monthly fee for a year. It'll probably also state that the monthly payments will automatically renew each year unless you tell them not to. If you renege (sp?) on the contract I'm sure Disney has legal options to collect.

When I did this with SW over several years I would forget to cancel the plan before the 1 yr. anniversary. I was still allowed to cancel it after the fact and was credited back the amounts already deducted (after the 1 yr. anniversary) as long as I hadn't used the cards (and I didn't).

I think that would be the only way to do it, is to do the pre-agreed upon automatic deductions each month on a designated date, from a credit or debit card (which is usually tied to a checking account). Otherwise, even the threat of Disney taking legal action down the road wouldn't be enough to stop some sneaky people from trying to get away with getting the AP, only paying $32 and then stiffing them. There are people roaming around DLR at 11:00 at night, trying to find guests who are done with their tickets so they can have them for themselves and then upgrade them just so they only have to pay the upgrade price to get into DLR the next day and not full admission price! So if people are that crafty and clever, I am sure there would be somebody out there who would say, "Let me get this AP, pay the first payment, get all the benefits on my trip and then just stop paying." I think the automatic monthly deductions would be a better method for DLR, and that isn't even fool proof.
