I've been wanting one for years, and i used a Friends and family 25% coupon to buy one at Linens 'n Things today. Now I need some tips from all you experts:D WooHoo!!! I'm going to be doing a lot of baking this weekend:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Iv'e always said that my KAM was the best thing I have ever bought and its now 15 years old and still going strong! as far as tips everyone says I make the best cakes and I think its because of the KAM..any other tips I just say follow instructions and you go girl cause no special tips are needed..have fun and enjoy..Marianne:wave2:

OH..that's one of my favorite things in my kitchen! I waited along time to get it, but it was worth it!!!:teeth: Enjoy!!!!

I got one from my Aunt before she died. It is olive green and from the 70? I love it. I told my dh to put money away for the day he may have to replace it . :Pinkbounc enjoy it

There is a lot more homemade bread around this house because of KAM!!! LOL! I hated mixing it...don't mind kneading it but getting the dough to that stage was so messy. I baked fresh bread weekly now. Gotta love Kitchen Aid! They are worth every penny and more.

Have fun playing around with your mixer!!

Ok, I'll give you a tip. Don't add floour while the mixer is still going or POOF!!
I love mine too!

enjoy! I am on my second one & ONLY because I wanted a different color. I gave my white one to one of my kids - still works like new - & it's 25 years young!! Never needed service on either one. wish everything I bought was as reliable!

One tip from me, This newer one came with a second bowl - 2 sure come in handy when you are baking up a storm. I believe you can also purchase them separately. Enjoy your new toy!

I also second the tip abt NOT adding flour while the mixer is on hahaha

I didn't like the plastic ring guard gizmo you can get to go over the top of mixer - got rid of it after awhile - not worth the hassle IMO

After going through two stand mixers I finally talked my DH into getting KAM. That was close to 25 years ago and it's the best thing I ever did! I make a lot of cookies (mostly for the holidays) and it takes on the thickest dough. I've always wanted a second bowl but don't really want to part with the extra $50-$60 dollars.

I love my KA mixer...It is my favorite kitchen appliance.... I have the black one, my mom recently got a red one and boy am I tempted to get a red one. (wouldn't that look great in my Mickey kitchen!!) DH bought me an extra bowl a couple of years ago, and it was definately worth it. Then I bought extra lids for them too (great for chilling cookie dough) I use mine for just about everything, I even mash potatoes in it.

I love my KAM, especially when doing holiday baking. I do alot of cookie and pastry doughs that are hard on the hands to mix, and they will kill a reg. mixer, but my KA is like a dream come true!
I do add floour while mixing! I got an accesory, not sure exactly what it is called, but it is a plastic shield that sits on top of the bowl and it has a sort of spout where you slowly add the flour to, and it does not spit out at me at all! :D Have fun with it and just experiment mixing all kinds of things with it.

I've had my KAM for about 15 years, and I love it! It's the only kitchen appliance that I wouldn't be without. Well, that and my dishwasher :p .

No real tips, just wishes for years of enjoyment!

I registered for one when we got married and was so sad when I did not get one that the first thing we did with some of our wedding money was to go out and buy one. It's now 11 years old and the best kitchen tool ever. Did you get the one with the lifter? Mine's the super powered one and I am so glad I spent the extra $$ on it way back when! My DH calls it the Beast!

I love my pouring shield, but just remember don't put any wet ingredients down that chute and then try to add dry ones bc the dry stuff will just stick and make you mad.

Get the extra bowl. They are often on sale and you will love having it. The lids are a great idea too. I don't have any. Oh Santa! :D

If you are inclined to make pasta, my cousin has the pasta attachment and loves it. I am not so inclined but am always quite impressed that she has homemade pasta in her house.

Just for kicks, throw a couple of egg whites in there and see how fast they get to be stiff peaks. My mom once turned cream into butter bc she was not used to the power of thing, turned it on like she'd do with her Mixmaster (remember those??) and walked away for 5 minutes. LOL, it was like a scene from I love Lucy!

Another KA fan here....my mom had one and I was bummed we didn't get one as a wedding gift. I bought one with some settlement $ I received a year or so after we were married- I can't imagine not having it! I have the turbo lift one, although I love the different colors the standard ones come in (I love that pistachio green one they just came out with- so cool and retro!)

Yeah They need to have more colors in the large model !

I think the reason they have been making lots of different colors is that no one has needed to buy a new one since they don't ever break, so they came up with a new marketing plan

Kinda like shoes one pair just doesn't cover it - you need a red one for valentines/Christmas, a light yellow, pastel pink or lavender one for spring, orange for fall, black for ...

maybe when I get a larger kitchen I can collect more colors hahaha
