Longtime lurker here. Just booked our first trip to the Fort since Spring of 2006 for this Summer. Very excited and well on my way to having everything planned out. I appreciate all of the information you can learn from this forum that is so helpful for those of us who haven't been in a while.

No problem, now how about you return the favor with a little information such as what ya staying in, when ya going, looking for anything in particular?

We always like to hear these things.

Oh, quit being a lurker and join in. The more the merrier.

Welcome, I was a lurker as well. Glad I joined. When in the summer?, whatcha drivin/pullin?. Family?, pets?, details please.

Welcome, and enjoy your return to the Fort. A lot had changed at Disney since 2006, before our back to back yearly trips my last was 1996. It is still a great place to be and the Fort makes it more so.

We are going to be there in the heat of the summer July 10 - 14th. We are taking a big trip back East this summer from Colorado and I somehow convinced my wife that we should swing by Florida for a few days at Disney since "we will be in the area anyway". Haha. It will be me, the wife, daughter 19 and son 11. Kind of figure it is the last chance for us to take our daughter for a while before she is completely on her own. We have a 2001 31 foot Gulf Stream Conquest Class C but had a 22 foot travel trailer last time we went when our youngest was 1. We have found that the older / bigger the kids have gotten it is so much easier traveling in the motorhome than cooped up in the truck while towing. Wife and I are both teachers so we can take our time and usually take a 2-3 week trip each summer. Really looking forward to this one.

Hi fisher1518,

We will be there just before you, July 2-7. Our last trips to FW were back in 2007 and 2008. We had some great times camping (RVing) while our girls were growing up. But, when they got into high school, between band and church stuff, they were too busy to camp. So we sold and were without a camper until just recently. My wife and I just bought a used 5th wheel for us...the girls are invited to tag along it they want :)

We've still "visited" the Fort when we are at WDW even though we were in a resort. Fort Wilderness is an amazing place and we are looking forward to being Home. Enjoy your trip!

David

It will be hot, but not impossible. The Fort itself will be easy to manage the crowds in the parks with the heat was always the difficult part with the summer. Safe travels for you and let us know if we can help.
