Finally getting to see the lights! Nov '11 Anniversary/Holiday/F&W PTR-New 11/4 p50

I love the idea of the photo shoot. Would love to do that someday.....

I like the other suggestions for khaki bottoms and blue/green or even white on top. Will they do beach shots at BCV? I've seen some really nice shots of families in khaki/white on a beach. The blue/green color scheme would work well with BCV.

I also like the daytime appt, for me it is easier to get Daniel to go with the flow earlier in the day. As the day wears on he becomes less cooperative.

A photo shoot sounds lovely! I'd go with the morning...the boys will be fresh and have the rest of the day to look forward to. ;)

Amy I LOVE that you are going to do a family portrait, I've been wanting to do one too.

Since you are at beach club doing your photos I would also suggest the khaki's and white polos or button down shirts for the guys. Do you have a white dress or long white skirt you could pair with a top? And def. go barefoot if you wear the khaki. (we've done denim and white tops before and they turned out really nice)

And I would say try and book it before your cape may breakfast. If you go after the breakfast you may feel rushed trying to eat and you might have that full feeling. If you think before your breakfast would be too early, could you maybe push your breakfast back 30 min? Plus going first thing in the morning you aren't worried about breaking your schedule at any point in the week and the kids will be fresh.

And then only one other suggestion, not sure your kids sensory issues, we tried to do beach pictures a couple years ago and Jack just could not handle standing barefoot in the sand, so wherever you think you are going to take photos have the kids practice walking around barefoot so they know what to expect ahead of time.

The only kind of split I'd do again is for 1nt at the beginning of the trip, that way you're not really settled in yet and it's not disruptive.

My kids also commented that they didn't like changing hotels, they're like their Mom and like to settle in for the duration. ;)

that thought did not work for us...and mine didn't like it either...

No split stay for us!

:goodvibes very wise decision!

Wednesday 11/9: DTD am/MVMCP pm (could fit it in here)

So my choices are:
Wednesday 11/9 - either after breakfast (Cape May at 9am)

I think I'm leaning toward Wednesday morning before DTD.

What do you think? Also, do you have any suggestions on what we should wear?

YES YES and YES that seems to be a no brainer plus pose smile and DTD toy reward you should make a little "good smile" reward for the boys to cash in at DTD then...

what's wrong w/ crocs...;)

bare feet khaki bottoms and white shirts is my vote or a nice sea blue...you could add a small hand painted Mickey head on the shirt somewhere too for a Disney touch

I believe beach shots are one of the options if the weather cooperates.

I agree with getting it "over with" early in the day so we can move on to something more fun for the boys.

I'll have to do some shopping because I don't have anything that would work for the picture. :cool1:

Great idea about walking in the sand ahead of time! Also a great idea to plan it BEFORE breakfast!!

Great idea to offer a bribe at DTD following the photos! :thumbsup2

Sea blue could be nice too if I could find something for everyone that would match!

Thank you all for your wonderful input about our photo session!!!

I called today and made an appointment for 9am on Wednesday, 11/9. I moved our Cape May breakfast to 9:40 so we'll have plenty of time for our photo session & not feel rushed at breakfast.

I love being able to take care of the photo session first thing before heading to brekfast, then DTD. I'll be planning for cab fare so we won't exhaust all of our patience for the day by waiting for buses! After DTD, we'll return to our resort, swim for a bit & relax before heading out for our big night at MVMCP. When I write it all out, it seems like a lot to do in one day but it's a lot of smaller things that aren't time consuming and should make for a fairly relaxing day before our night out.

As for what to wear, I'm definitely leaning toward khaki pants or shorts and most likely white polo shirts. I'll be doing some shopping for myself. :thumbsup2 I'm not sure if I'll go with capris or a dress/skirt.

Next up: I'll share the results of Alex's "Disney Top 20" lists!

Over Memorial Day weekend, while playing with Alex, I decided to do a little research. I asked him to set up a Family Feud game for me of his favorite Disney rides. (Alex loves all things Game Show.) Well he wanted everyone in on the action and felt he needed to "survey" more than just himself, so he had us each write down our "Top 20" favorite things at Disney. It was a fun little activity, and while we may have missed putting some of our favorites on our lists, it's a good starting point for our November park goals.

Here are the lists:
Zach:
• Snow Cones
• Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster
• Indiana Jones Stunt Show
• Star Tours
• Japanese Restaurant
• It’s a Small World
• Pirates of the Caribbean
• Rollercoaster Making (Sum of All Thrills)
• Splash Mountain
• Thunder Mountain
• Chef Mickey’s
• Monsters, Inc.
• Spaceship Earth
• Space Mountain
• Soda Countries (Club Cool)
• Lemonade Slushy (the kids version)
• Hotel
• Jeff & Karen’s
• Peter Pan
• Dinosaur
• Yeti

Alex:
• Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster
• Dinosaur
• Splash Mountain
• Test Track
• Space Mountain
• Expedition Everest
• “Innoventions East”, which he insists is what Sum of All Thrills is called!
• Star Tours
• Mission Space
• Big Thunder Mountain RR
• Toy Story Mania
• Dumbo??
• Buzz Lightyear
• Mad Tea Party??
• Soarin’
• Small World
• Haunted Mansion
• Goofy’s Barnstormer??
• Indiana Jones Stunt Show
• Pirates of the Caribbean

Some of his crack me up... Dumbo, The Mad Tea Party, The Barnstormer... He hasn't been on Dumbo since our first trip in 2006. We rode Barnstormer once in 2007, which he doesn't remember and we've never been on the Mad Tea Party! :confused3

Tim:
• Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster
• Expedition Everest
• Big Thunder Mountain RR
• Space Mountain
• Toy Story Mania
• Tower of Terror
• Splash Mountain
• Kali River Rapids
• Test Track
• Soarin’
• Sum of All Thrills
• Buzz Lightyear
• Pirates of the Caribbean
• Mission Space
• Star Tours
• Indiana Jones Stunt Show
• Kilimanjaro Safaris
• Dinosaur
• Peter Pan’s Flight
• Winnie the Pooh

Me: (Mine fluctuate day by day ;))
• Tower of Terror
• Soarin’
• Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster
• World Showcase
• Fireworks
• Restaurants
• Toy Story Mania
• Big Thunder Mountain RR
• Haunted Mansion
• Expedition Everest
• Safari
• Pirates of the Caribbean
• It’s a Small World
• Test Track
• Spaceship Earth
• Sum of All Thrills
• Splash Mountain
• Dinosaur
• The Great Movie Ride
• TTA Peoplemover

Alex compiled all of the data & determined we have six attractions that we all share. Four family members surveyed, top six answers on the board:
• Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster
• Big Thunder Mountain RR
• Splash Mountain
• Expedition Everest
• Sum of All Thrills
• Pirates of the Caribbean

(Toy Story should be on there too, but Zach forgot to put it on his list.)

Sorry for no pictures in this installment, but I promise to add them to my park goals updates that will be coming up next!

Today I took my MIL to an appointment in Manchester. You know what else is in Manchester? My closest Disney store!! So after the appointment, we made a pit stop & I picked up a few things:

We could use a few new beach towels:

A couple shirts for me (why is it that all the V neck shirts are dark?):

A shirt for each of the boys:

And for spending over $50 I got the privilege of spending more money:

I think these were usually $15 or so and I got one for $6. Not sure I needed it, but I'm a sucker... :rolleyes1 And I got 10% off with my Disney Visa! :thumbsup2

While emptying my camera I found a few recent pictures of the boys to share:
Zach at his karate belt graduation in early May:

And some outdoor fun as the weather warmed up this week:

I love the idea of getting Alex to do your research for you....brilliant! :thumbsup2

Cute beach towels and shirts....and I would have bought the water bottles too. They can see me coming a mile away....with "I'm a sucker for anything Disney and whatever "appears" to be a great deal" written all over me! ;)

The waterplay looks like fun. I'm so glad it finally feels like spring is here to stay! :)

What a fun game/research project pretty cool the results, a lot of rides seemed to match up :goodvibes and of course LOVE your shopping purchases, I didn't see the earth on Mickey's finger one when I went this week, cute.

I love going to the Disney store... maybe it's because it's Disney, maybe it's because it's kind of far away so I can't just swing by... but I love it!!

I couldn't find anything good for Zach until I found the Mickey/earth shirt. I thought he would like to wear it when I wear my new "green" Mickey shirt.

I totally forgot to post the pictures from our stop at Old Navy after the Disney store!

I found the shirt I'd gone in looking for:

I think I'll plan to wear it to Magic Kingdom on Veteran's Day!

I also found this cute skirt that is currently a front-runner for the photo session:

It's about mid-shin length. Now I just have to figure out what to wear with it! If the boys all wear white tops with khaki bottoms, I could go white with white but I don't know that I could find a khaki top?? And that would look weird... Any suggestions? Shades of blue?

Soda countries. How cute!

I am surprised he put Small World.

I have never thought about my Top 20. Maybe I'll make a list over the next few weeks.

I walked around with this in my hand at the Atlanta DIS meet. I ended up putting it back. I knew I'd be sorry.

I like that a lot! If the boys all are khaki and white, what about you with white and maybe a real soft, washed out peach/melon or very light teal/blue, just for a subtle splash of color. You could lay it all out together on a bed to see what it would look like.

Love the Family Feud Game idea! What fun!

Oh my, I love that skirt, it's exactly what I am looking for, I don't wear skirts much if ever really, but I just haven't found one I like, can't do the miniskirt thing and I'm too short for long skirts. This would be perfect. I must head to old navy! White may not work unless I wear when I carry my DSLR and use it as my excuse to refuse to go on Splash Mountain or it might end up see thru!

glad you have the photo shoot all figured out...I love the white skirt BTW...so summery :thumbsup2 I'd go light shade of blue for your top, maybe something w/ blue in it :cutie:

I was debating the blue "leaf: Mickey shirt too :thumbsup2 and you know i love your American Mickey head shirt...

the Top 20 Family Survey lists are great and i get the biggest kick out of Zach first thing...Snow Cones

I wonder if my crew would have a top 6 that would match so well...if i guessed I am pretty sure we'd all have TSM, Buzz, POC, tea cups, People mover, and the Safari.

Fun purchases from your shopping trip!!!

What a great idea to get Alex to do "research" on favorite things at WDW! Too funny about his own list with rides he doesn't normally go on! :rotfl:

Great skirt!!! I love it!!!
