FINALLY COMPLETE! 10/3/2010- But Why is the Rum Gone? Disneyween 2007

Oh man. I've missed your posts! Do you still have a blog? I want to know what's going on in your fairytale Disney life!!!

When I last left off, about 50 years ago, I had just spent Halloween (2007!!) afternoon wandering around the boardwalk, and was now back at my room at the Beach Club Villas to get dressed up for Halloween Night at the Adventurers Club! (RIP, Adv Club, whose remnants are now blasphemously being used at the Vynilmation store. GRR.)

First, I got Stitch into costume. I'm not even sure if we brought him to the Club, but at least he was dressed for the occasion!

Katie showed up while I was finishing getting ready. We both had a few costume changes from when we went to MNSSHP! As you probably don't recall, since it has been like three years ;) my handmade pirate costume shirt FELL APART on my way out of MK on MNSSHP night!! So as much as I'm sure certain AC cast members would have enjoyed me showing up in the shirt that was now set on showing my bra to the world, I had to fall back on a black tank top, instead. I looked a lot less piratey, but it was still fun!

I can't remember what issues Katie had with her pirate costume, but she decided to be all Goddess-esque, instead!

We kind of look like Good and Evil here!

We took Katie's car to the Club, and I was delighted that she had Stephen Colbert's book in the car, because I am pretty sure I need to marry him.

The Club is (was) a short drive from BCV, so we were soon in the happy, happy land of Kungalooshes! (OMG, I miss these! Not to mention the bartenders! Much love to Andre, George, Jessica, Erin, and Dana, half of which I still keep in touch with. Is it a bad sign to admit you know your bartenders that well?)

I was in charge of croc-sitting the Team Focker Watch Croc Felecia that night, so I made sure she had an excellent time, too!!

If you never got to see the Adv Club all decked out for a holiday, I am so sorry! It was always so much fun! Plus, KatGarcia from right here on the DIS and her husband KC joined us, and if I recall correctly, it was their very first Adv Club trip! Here's the library all Halloweened up:

As Adv Club fans from way back (I've been going since I was 19, and I was 25? I think? at the time of this trip), it's always fun to see a totally different show than you're used to! Here are a few photos I took of the Halloween Radio Broadcast:

Otis and Pamelia singing... um.. something?

Emil Bleehall doing The 12 Nights of Halloween

After the show, I was in need of another beverage! We all hit the bar, and sat around upstairs talking. Somehow, I managed to kick my Kungaloosh over, adding yet another layer to what I am sure is an already super liquored up rug!

1885200018_d13ea4417e.jpg

I had to dash to the bartender for a bunch of napkins to clean up. Poor booze!! Somewhere, Kat has an excellent photo of me cleaning!

Kat and KC had to leave fairly early, but Katie and I stuck around. Hilarity ensued. I got this lovely photo taken:

I miss Zeus! He never calls, never writes. He's probably in China by now.

1884376553_39d3c4c613.jpg

Check it out, Katie and I found a man!

Someone at the bar had a bunch of stuffed animals, and was randomly giving them to people. Katie was given this elephant. Umm, okay!

While we were sitting around in the Main Salon, I recognized a girl that I had talked to on MySpace about hair stuff. Small world! We talked a bit, and ended up hanging out around the club some that night. Still friends 3 years later! I swear, if it weren't for the Adv Club, I wouldn't have most of my Orlando area friends!! (More on that later!)

Julie (friend I had just recognized) decided she wanted a photo with Fletcher Hodges, and asked if I could snap it for her.

Then it was my turn!

1885202952_d93720f433.jpg

Then Julie decided she needed a photo with Otis T. Wren, so I followed along as her dutiful photographer. I snapped the pic of Julie with Otis (I will have to check her myspace and facebook to see if I can find it!), and as we were trading cameras so I could get a pic, too, Otis wandered off! BURN! I was totally dissed by the fisherman! I turned around to see him a few feet away, and called "Um, Otis? Otis? YO WREN!!!!!", which finally seemed to get his attention, and he came back for a picture with me. I was a little embarassed that I had totally just yelled at a cast member, but I'm so glad I did, because let's all face it, this picture is freaking cute:

I was just looking at the other pics I took of the Club that night, and found this one:

1885600828_c6485114e9.jpg

It was just supposed to be a pic of the Main Salon, but I cracked up when I noticed that two of the people in the pic are now my friends, one of which lives across the hall from me!

Did I mention how much I LOVE the Adv Club for bringing me all of my friends??

One more parting shot of the Club:

Miss you, Colonel!! I hope you are now off on a grand new adventure!!

Holy moly, I forgot what hard work this trip reporting stuff is! I've had to go back and edit like fifty times just to make all the pics work- I'm so out of practice!

Here is a link to a bonus video of Halloween night! Taken all by my very own self! (Ahh, memories of the days before my video camera got stolen!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nO7c1brBn-U

What a shock to see this report popping up on my subscriptions! I know there is a photo of me and you from my trip the included AC. I think it was on Lexi's camera... Can't wait to hear more about this trip. You then need to do an extended "My Life as a CM" report (so I can appear in some of your TRs)!

WOW I subbed to this thread when I first came on to the DIS :rotfl: I am glad to see the update in my email today! :cool1:

I remember you and your trip reports Crystal. Hope you do come back and tell us about "life at good ol' Disney". Glad to know you are still there!

Thank you guys all for the welcome backs and for actually remembering me! ;) I've been meaning to finish up forever, and am trying to actually DO it now, before the memories get even fuzzier!

I'm working on my post about Nov 1, which is, ooh, ahhh, the day I went to casting! So if you have any questions about the casting process, please let me know and I'll try to answer them!

Edited because OOPS! I just looked at my pictures, and Nov *2* is the day I went to casting, not the 1st! So you have some time to ponder questions!

Part Eight Zillion, Nov 1, 2007!

I have to apologize in advance for the reportyness about this day. I haven't ever been able to find the notebook I took trip report notes in (actually, I think I did triumphantly find it a year or so ago, get all excited, and then promptly lose it again.), so I only have my photos from these last couple of days to go by. Judging from the photos I have from Nov 1, I wandered around Epcot. This would be much easier to write about if I ddin't currently live five minutes from Epcot and get in free, which means I have wandered around Epcot approximately 28492874 times since this one particular time I am now writing about. So hey! Let me just distract you with pretty pictures, and we can ignore the fact that I have NO IDEA what I am talking about here? Ok? (Don't worry, I DO have some actual memories of Nov 2!)

My first order of the day was checking out of the Beach Club Villas, since I would be moving over to PO-R today.

1884701859_505de50462.jpg

Bye, BCV! See ya... well, in 2 months when I end up sitting around in the Drawing Room reading a lot because my new apartment has no furniture or TV!

I wasn't in any particular hurry to get anywhere, so after having my luggage picked up to be sent over to my new resort home, I decided to wander around the Boardwalk area for a while. (Oh man, I now wander around there as much as I wander Epcot, if not more!)

Since the night before was Halloween, there was a fun display of entries to the cast Pumpkin Carving Contest set up at the Boardwalk. A few of my favorites:

1884703205_02e4567f0f.jpg

Okay, maybe not so much "carving" in this particular case...

1885531704_ccc3452072.jpg

PIRATE theme, for the win! It's like they knew about the theme of my trip or something!

1884705017_44f3f2748c.jpg

Elephant over the BW fireplace = cool, but little chair with a face in the lower left = creepy!

1885534484_2b9a60e7b0.jpg

Oooh, Boardwalky!

Okay, I will admit that I am having trouble figuring out which photos to even stick in here! I see this stuff all the time, so I don't find it as fascinating to see in photos now, but I am guessing that I found it interesting when I took the photos, so maybe you will, too? I'm kinda lost here!

Hey look, soup!

1885537180_8ef9ec0acc.jpg

Ah, yes, eventually I completed my Boardwalk wanderings, and instead made my way into Epcot because HELLO, it is Food and Wine Festival, why WOULDN'T I be in Epcot? (Now THAT still holds true today!) One of the beautiful things about Food & Wine fest is that you can get the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup from Le Cellier, without having to work miracles and get a reservation for the restaurant! SCORE! (The sad news, if you are wondering, is that no, cast members don't get discounts on F&W yummy things.)

1885538134_3c53d36679.jpg

YAY for Canada, land of good soup!

After my yummy cheese soup break, I made my way over to Mexico:

1884728223_9d0ce1155f.jpg

1884729969_5b0e8bfbbe.jpg

If you kinda squint, you can see that this store is named after me!

...and on to China, where I stopped to admire the detail in the roof designs:

1884733801_f1fef5d22a.jpg

Even though it was just Nov 1, Christmas decorations had already started to pop up overnight!

1884748325_e9e1ae8db9.jpg

In the mood for something sweet to follow up my soup, I stopped in Japan for a Kaki Gori, which I enjoyed back in the little Japanese garden near the quick service restaurant.

1884749047_aeb4179122.jpg

Rainbow is the very best flavor!

These used to be $2.25, but I recently noticed they have gone up to like $3.75, but also seem to be bigger. This makes me kind of sad, because at $2.25, it was one of the few Disney treats I could enjoy with very little financial guilt, and gheez, I could barely finish one as it was, there was no need to make it bigger!!!

After some more wandering around that I am sure was terribly exciting, I stopped at Ice Station Cool for some Vegibeta!

1885589438_7b312ba239.jpg

I just realized the other reason why I'm having so much harder a time than usual writing about this day! Normally, I look through ALL of my photos of the day I am writing about. Even though 60% of them aren't worth posting, they remind me of what went on. For this trip, I only hav what I uploaded to Flickr, because my laptop that had all of my pics on it was stolen in 2008. (I miss you, Lappytop!) So sorry again, I'm doing my best to piece it all together for the sake of wrapping up the story instead of leaving it all hanging!

Eventually, I went over to PO-R to check in, where I got a room! In... a building! In what I am guessing was the mansions section!

1885590288_9d5f739b9b.jpg

I have NO pictures from this one until I went back to Epcot that night for Illuminations, so I am guessing I crashed on the bed and watched Ellen again or something. Feel free to make up whatever story you want about how I spent my afternoon, just make it interesting!

1885591916_c0055407c2.jpg

Hey look, we are back at Epcot! And it now appears to be nighttime!

(How many of you are now totally regretting those "Oh, you are an awesome trip reporter!!" comments from way back in this thread? Show of hands??)

1884765235_bb63e99287.jpg

OMG, Disney World EXPLODED!!! Or, there were fireworks happening.

1884767119_8816627a71.jpg

1884767955_4e31fd6321.jpg

1885595912_84aba6bc64.jpg

Illuminations is pretty, this is just a fact of life.

After the fireworks, I had two options. I could either walk ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way back up to the front of the park, and wait with the masses for my bus back to PO-R, or I could cross the little bridge to the Boardwalk and hop on a bus to Downtown Disney to pop into the Adv Club before bed.

Three guesses what I did!

1884769189_c402f4ff2c.jpg

I must not have stayed long at the Club, because I have no photos, and I'm guessing I was in major need of some sleep by now! Don't worry though, we still have one full day of trip report left, and it DOES conclude with an adventure-filled night!!

I don't have any particular questions, I just want to know about EVERYTHING.
We were suppose to move down there last year - damn recession!!!!
We're hoping this will be the year we move. I am sooooooo ready.
Waiting with bated breath (whatever that means) to hear what I'll need to do to work for Mickey.:woohoo::cool1::dance3::cheer2:

Hi Crystal,

I totally remember you and your awesome trip reports! I'm glad you're coming back to finish this one up...plus I'd love a mini-report on how things are going living in Orlando and working for the mouse.

Do you get to Celebration often? I work in the schools as a speech therapist and I have applied/interviewed with the elementary school there. I was told I should hear something by the end of this week and I'm really anxious. I think I just want an excuse to move back to central Florida, although sometimes I have my doubts.

Looking forward to the rest of Disneyween!

Hey, Crystal's back!!! :cool1:

Good to see you again. I will be there next week. If you are around, would be great to see you again.

Dan

I was thinking you guys were supposed to be here by now! Hurry it up! ;)

I live about 5 min from Celebration, so I'm there pretty often to go to my bank/library. I love the little walking trail around the lake! Good luck with your job!

Heya Dan! I will be around, just let me know!

Hey sweetie!!! I'm so glad you're back! I wouldn't care if you finished this ten years from now...I'll still be reading it!

Hi guys!

The electricity in my apartment got turned off yesterday (being poor is NOT FUN!), so I have to put a bit of a hold on the next update! Hopefully I will be back ASAP!

Hey again! Sorry for the lack of updates, but I am still without electricity. NOT FUN! I have a good chunk of the next update written, just have to get around to getting it ready to post!

Hi Crystal,

After being teased with an update on DisneyWeen, I had to have more. So I re-read your No Day but Today TR from start to finish yesterday at work. It's inspiring! I have read some really great trip reports on the DIS, some that I look forward to like the next chapter in a book, but I have to say I think you are my favorite. It could be because we are of similar age, both single (at least in your trip reports I'm assuming you were) and those sorts of things other than reading about families with kids and all that. Anyway, take your time updating - sorry you have no power! But I'm really looking forward to hearing about the rest of Disneyween and your adventures living in Orlando and working for the mouse! I think I am living vicariously through you because I would love to just drop my job, move to Orlando and work for Disney (again), but I'm thinking my family would be pretty disappointed in me if I just spend 3+ years in grad school, have oodles of student loan debt and a current steady job in the public school system just so I could ask people how many are in their party on a ride. I'm still waiting for the day Disney puts a speech pathologist on staff - I am so in! Don't the entertainers need voice therapy? Or accent reduction for the international cast members? Something? Anything?

P.S. I have an extra day on my park tickets from a previous trip so I've decided to take an imprompty solo weekend to disney so it "doesn't go to waste". Ahh, the joys of living just 2 hours away. Plus, reading your trip reports, while still a little undecided about doing it, pushed me over the edge on going for it. Heading up next Friday, the 30th and then coming back on Sunday. Staying at Pop. What resort have you been working at?
