FINALLY COMPLETE! 10/3/2010- But Why is the Rum Gone? Disneyween 2007

Hi again, everyone!

I’m FINALLY posting more! YAY! Thank you so much for being patient with me (or at least pretending to be!) while I’ve been so busy with moving stuff, and dealing with LifeWithNoSpaceKey!

Eight million years ago, when I last posted, I had just checked in to OKW, and was getting ready for MNSSHP that night!

I have a confession: I was a lazy bum today. After spending almost an hour getting my internet, I gave in to the allure of sloth, and sat around for like 4 hours. I watched TV, read, internetted.. Life was good!

I started getting ready around 5, since Katie and Sherice were supposed to be arriving about 6, and there’s a lesson in Disney Math I’m sure you girls know: 3 Women + 1 Bathroom + special event to get ready for = AHHHH! So I wanted to get mostly ready before they got there, so they could have more room for getting ready.

Once I spread out all of my Halloween stuff- costume, goodie bags for DISers, etc, the room was a MESS! The stuff took up the bed I wasn’t using to sleep in, the kitchen cabinet, the bathroom cabinet, and the table. It looked like a tornado hit OKW!

I had a grand plan to document my transformation into a pirate, but I ended up slacking seriously. Here’s the “Before” photo, at least:

Ya know, since you all haven’t seen *enough* non-pirate pics of me so far.

I have never been happier for my friends to be late. Becoming a pirate takes lots of time!!! I added hair extensions, which took my hair from being past my shoulders to now reaching halfway down my back, because I feel more piratey with long hair, and also had a lot of hair pieces that I clipped in- braids, pieces with coins and beads attached, etc. On top of all that went a head scarf and flower tucked behind my ear, and I decided to skip the coin headpiece tonight because I knew I’d lose it at Magic Kingdom, and my head was already heavy enough!

I basically did the same makeup I’d do for a dance performance- heavy black eyeliner and shadow, shimmery white under the brows, etc. I thought about doing something fancier, but I knew it would just sweat off!

I was a little worried that my costume would be hot- you may recall that my shirt was made out of a sheet, which did NOT breathe at all! Plus the corset was corduroy- hot! The pants I wasn’t worried about- they survived the summer that the AC in our dance studio broke, so they can do anything! To be safe, I stuck a black tank top in my bag, just in case I wanted to change at the party.

Katie and Sherice showed up around 6:45, and became pirates, too!

While we were getting ready, I declared myself Captain, Sherice became our Gunman, and Katie…well, Katie is our Skipper. Behold, the crew of the good ship Llama Llama Duck!

I think it’s funny that despite no planning as a group, we all ended up in red, black, and white, with stripes.

I had a set of light-up rings that I’d bought for Kelly & I, but since Kelly didn’t make it, I gave the other one to Katie. They were a source of both amusement and frustration! (We are distracted by shiny things! Pretttty! But they were also bulky and odd-fitting).

We took Katie’s car to the TTC, to avoid spending eight thousand years on the OKW bus system, and then the monorail to the park:

On the monorail, someone volunteered to take a group pic--

Note that my corset is already coming untied! OOPS! This I just foreshadowing….

This is the only picture where you can see my pirate tattoo! (and my mad monorail pole dancing’ skillz!)

What, pirates travel by monorail all the time! (For Katie: “I’ll see her standing by the monorail! She looks the same except for bionic eyes… she lost the real ones in the robot wars…”)

Gunman of the Llama Llama Duck, ready for action!

I had some very basic goals for MNSSHP:
1) Boo To You Parade
2) Hallowishes
3) Photos of the park all Halloweened up
4) Photos with the characters in costume
5) Haunted Mansion!

Well, I managed 2/5! FAIL!

We got there just after 8, and the first parade was at 8:15, so we decided to catch it first thing. We found a spot in Frontierland- sadly our spot was right by the line for popcorn, so people kept thinking we were in line. Oops!

I decided to skip taking photos and video of the parade, so I could actually *watch* it. I couldn’t resist this one, though:

And this…

I found you some youtube clips of the best stuff:

(aggh, I loooove the ghostly choreography! LOVE. Ideas forming for own performance…)

And the Boo To You Pirates…

After the parade, we dashed over to Pirates- yay! I wanted to stop back later in the night to take pics in pirate costume in the line, but we never got to it! D’oh!

We did have some fun in the gift shop after the ride, though!

This pic turned out very dark, but I’m examining a telescope, with a slight Capt Jack flair.

Katie seems to have mixed feelings about this sword?

This is my crew?? (I bought those handcuffs and tied them to my belt to complete the costume!)
(And you can see Katie’s ring here!)

YAY for pirates! Yes, pirates have become a cliché now that they’re so popular, and we saw eight million other people dressed as pirates tonight, but it was still fun! And we were, of course, the most awesome pirates there! (Hey, Disney! Can I be a pirate wench in next year’s parade?)

These “ladies”, however, were WAY more awesome than us (We saw them on the Pirate ride, and basically stalked them to get a picture) :

(The latter is what happens when the person you ask to take the picture is not very happy about it . He had a cigarette when we approached him, but sadly he put it out for the picture. It would have been so much funnier with!)

Our next stop was the Haunted Mansion. I loooooved the updates they’ve done! Very cool!

This was a cool photo in theory! In execution, not so much.

We were just getting off of the Haunted Mansion when the fireworks started- d’oh! That was one of the main things I wanted to see, I can’t believe I overlooked getting a good spot early enough! Oh well, there’s always next year ;) We ended up watching from Fantasyland near Peter Pan.

1880305234_b8f2f32e76.jpg

If you’re watching fireworks from Fantasyland- BEWARE the falling ash! Katie and I both ended up with very painful stuff falling into our eyes! I wouldn’t suggest watching from Fantasyland, anyway, though, because you miss pretty much everything!

By now, Katie and Sherice were starving, so we stopped in Cosmic Ray’s for fooooood. (I’m pretty sure Katie had chicken nuggets. Again. Feel free to mock her!) There was a dance party going on with Stitch dressed as Elvis- I tried to get pics, but they all turned out funky! The best part, though, was a random Cosmic Rays CM who danced along to the ENTIRE show, from the back of the restaurant, very enthusiastically. He must have seen it many, many times, because he knew the whole thing!

After food, we went to ride Buzz Lightyear. Does anyone remember January when Katie and I got stuck in the tunnel with the video that plays around you, and became Galactic Heroes?

IT HAPPENED AGAIN!

We got stuck in the very same spot!!!

Photo we were too cheap to buy

Lines were fairly short, so we did Snow White, Peter Pan, Pooh, and Philharmagic, all within a fairly short time span. In reality, people watching was WAY more fun than any ride- we saw so many awesome costumes, and just being in a park surrounded by random characters is hilarious! And more than a little surreal!

We stayed until the park closed at midnight, but then as we were walking across the parking lot to the car, my shirt *fell apart*!!! This is what I get for making my own costume- nearly flashing the entire Magic Kingdom! ;) The shirt was a chemise, which means it’s actually a HUGE shirt, but the drawstring around the neck gathers it up so that it looks more fitted. Well, my drawstring snapped! Hello there, these are my ****s. Happy Halloween!! I had to hold my shirt together in the front until we got back into the room. Thank goodness it waited until the END of the night to break, or I would have been screwed!

Katie dropped me off back at the resort, then dropped Sherice off where she was staying. We were tired pirates!

We still have the 29th-3rd to go! Think I can write it all in a week???

Sounds like a fun night.

I'm jealous of your MNSSHP night! It rained the entire night when I went!

I felt like I must have been on drugs while watching the Stitch dressed as Elvis dance party. I was mesmerized though!

If you shirt just had to bust (no pun intended), it had great timing!

At least your shirt broke at the end of night. Thats exciting that you are moving to Orlando. I hope one day to move back to Florida.

THAT is awesome

When I was at WDW on the college program I worked at Illuminations for a few weeks. One night my friend and I were watching the audience watching the show (our job was to make sure no one climbed up on a wall, or stood in the no-standing zone, etc) and it was especially windy. We saw a HUGE chunk of a firework shell (looked like a horses hoof) falling directly for the head of an unsuspecting guest in front of us. There was no way we could get to him in time to warn him - we kind of just stood there in horror. It fell, fell, then smacked him on the head and bounced off. He just looked up confused for a minute and then went back to watching the show. Later when everyone left we found the shell - it was heavy! I think my friend still has it somewhere. Beware of falling fireworks kids!

By now, Katie and Sherice were starving, so we stopped in Cosmic Ray’s for fooooood. (I’m pretty sure Katie had chicken nuggets. Again. Feel free to mock her!)

Being one who must order the kids mac n cheese at least twice every trip, I don't think I'm in a position to mock her. (Well, what's more fun than eating cheesy pasta out of mickey's head??)

And 2nd, V - I'll be at Disney the 14-16...maybe I'll see you around the world!
:yay: I'll be on the lookout! Our plans call for AK on 12/15 and EP 12/16.
Mini update!!

I just got a room at Pop for the 10th & 11th so that I have a place to stay while I get moved (My house is like 9 miles from Pop!!!)
YAY!! it's really happening
I was a little worried that my costume would be hot
I keep forgetting it was still HOT when you were there!
the good ship Llama Llama Duck!
:lmao:
mad monorail pole dancing’ skillz!
Will this become the next exercise fad?
Well, I managed 2/5! FAIL!

:thumbsup2 I didn't see the telescope, but definitely caught the Capt. Jack look!

Yay!!!! :yay: Good luck with your move!

Take care,
Michelle

Thanks for the clips. I will too be going sometime in my life for Halloween, just to say I went. Can I guess what you are going to do in Disney? Are you going to dance for a stage show? I'm guessing for The Lion King.

My cousin does fireworks every year for the 4th and one year something hit me in my eye and popped out my contact lens. I was so afraid to open my eye because I thought I was going to be blind. But after a few minutes I did and it was just that I lost my lens. Thank god.

Good thing that your top staying together until the end, then we would have to X rate the MK.;)

Can't wait for more. I also can't wait to hear about the move to FL and what you are going to do while working for the mouse.

I'll be waiting popcorn::

Crystal great piratey update

& HOLY COW your dream is coming true!!!!!!!!!!! How awesome........details please.

Hey guys!

Tiny update: Disney casting called me this morning- I haven't gotten to my interview day of the trip report yet, but (what I would turn int a) long story short, I interviewed for a job working front desk at one of the resorts, and they told me to call about 2 weeks before I was coming to see what was available. I finally got to speak with someone today, and it turns out that both front desk and photopass have no openings, so in the mean time, until something becomes available, hello! My name is Crystal, and I work attractions in Tomorrowland!

I'm setting up a separate blog to chronicle the whole moving to Disney thing, so I'll post the URL here as soon as it's up!

Cool! I'm surprised nothing's open with it so close to the Holiday rush, but attractions must be cool.

Cool, do you know which one yet? I'm sure a resort job will open up soon enough and until then you are still working at Disney!
