I have a nook, and I love it, but I'll agree with the chorus of "you can't go wrong with either!"
However, there is a great piece of free software called calibre that functions as a organizer for ebooks but more importantly, will convert ebook formats. So, if you want the Kindle but like the library option, you could use calibre to conver the epub/pdf into the kindle format.
It isn't perfect. You sometimes wind up with some weird spacing but it works really well for a free program!
