Finally called, adding on...

Hi floridafam. Sorry I've been out most of the day. Did you call your guide again?
Did you find out if you have to pay 10% or 20% down without MB?
MB offered on waitlist purhases?
I might have to call and ask about this...
I've got a busy two days ahead of me so it might be hard for my guide to call me back and reach me.
Thanks for running those numbers. Have you done this for SSR, too?

"I don't think the pts charts will change that much. All they can do is reallocate pts. Maybe even out weekday and weekend pts but they can never increase the amount of pts needed."

This is what i'm worried about. If they reallocate the points to even out weekday and weekend points then 70 might not be what i need for a 5 night stay in a studio during the summer. That si why I'd like to see a 2005 chart. But, only once at OKW this has been done, correct?

I think point rebalancing was only done once at OKW/DVC in 1996

5 nights in a Studio at VWL during Magic Season is 70 pts

Assuming no point rebalancing and Caskbill's projection is correct for 2005:

Magic Season starts June 11th, 2005 and ends August 15th, 2005

Thanks

Wow, ya know all thsi thinking... ;)
I plan on trying to get a room at VB next summer for a few nighst with my Mom and my girls. We're big on going to the beach, but I've never seen VB. I was hoping to use some of our points each year for a few nights each summer.
I had forgooten about the deals there. Just looked - Am I right? 50 points with finacing and $15 MB? UH?!? That woudl be $3450, 69 a point! Why didn't everyoen think thsi is a deal? I wonder if they still ahve my use year of Dec left? Cheaper than buying VWL at the $84, but once again I'd have to talk hubby into it. Huge difference in price, though. I know the dues are higher. Woudl it really add up?
Anyoen know how hard it is to book VB in the summer at 7 months?
Woudl this be a bad mistake to buy VB? Still can use any extra points at WDW...
I think I'm thinkinga nd second guessing myself to much!

I think VB dues were $4.37 this year so would add up over time - there are resales below $69 as well. If you like VB and expect to stay on regular basis or are confident you can get into WDW DVC on 7 month window then go for it.

You may find with that 7 month window and the family schedule that you can get into OKW for example but may not get into the other resorts......

I am wondering as DVC gets more popular if it will be harder to get in at the 7 month windows.....

Summer is shown as Dream Season (Jun 1- Aug 31)

Thanks

jaysue, after doing a search I read October was all that was left at VB. I'm just second guesing myself and shoudl just go to sleep!
Anyway, I'm worried about that, too. Once SSr starts going and growing is it going to be hard to get into a DVC resort other than your home at the 7 month window? Are all thse SSr owners goona want to book BCV to be close to Epcot and SAB? Are they gonna book VWL to be close to MK? Maybe buying at VWl is the right thing to do now. It is the smallest DVC WDW resort, correct?Perosnally, I know the theory si buy where you wnat to stay, but I woudl liek to alternate to get soem variety. I don't wnat to stay at BCv every trip, but if I had to it wouldn't kill me. ;) Actually, I have no desire to stay at OKW. I didn't liek the apartment type layout when we drove through it before. Hubby liked it, but I really liek a hotel resort type feel with the lobby and not seeing your car for a full week. I don't liek that parking up front by your room. I see SSr will ahve this, too BUT it will have a pool that looks promising And a restauarnt type food court. I hate that most of the deluxes don't have this. You cna't eat in the restaurant each night and I'm not going to cook dinner! Breakfast and lunch, yes, dinner no way! I think we may switch our BCV to BWV for our summer trip at the window. We haven't stayed there yet. It is really a wash to me if I couldn't get in there at the 7 month just cause it is part of that Epcot location along with BCV. If you're at BCV you can still enjoy Boardwalk.

I did not talk to my guide tonight. I will probably talk to him tomorrow.

I wouldn't buy VB unless you really want to stay there. We bought VB because we absolutely love it-sometimes even more than the resorts in Orlando.

Plus, with the addition of SSR I think it will only become harder to book the WDW resorts at the 7 month window.

I'm not sure if they even have Dec. use year left. I thought that I heard it was only October. The dues are more and I think that may eat up any savings over time.

I will let you know about the MB questions as soon as I talk to my guide.

Judging from everything you have said about VWL, I would stick with your plans to add on there. :D

floridafam, have you noticed any problems booking VB in the summer? So you think WDW DVC resorst will be harder to book at 7 montsh than at VB once SSR srats to grow?
Thanks!

Shan, I would buy at SSR - plain and simple - tell hubby it is the best value then use either SSR or BCV points to book VWL when possible - maybe rotate between different resorts each trip for variety

I know Len wants the VWL location but I think you will be able to get in there enough to keep him reasonably interested ;)

We are staying OKW (2BR) in Nov, BWV (Studio) and BCV (2BR) in Jan and VWL (2BR) in Feb.....

OKW: booked 5.5 mos out
BWV: booked 6 months out
BCV: Booked 8 months out
VWL: Booked 7 months out

thanks
jaysue

I would buy VWL now because I think it will only become more difficult to book and it sounds like you really love it.

SSR will still be selling in a while and maybe you could add on down the road. Who knows?

We have never booked VB for the summer and have only been in October and Spring. Didn't have any trouble booking either of those times, especially in October. Yes, I think the WDW DVC resorts will be harder to book than VB. I also think that VB may become harder to book at 7 months just because of the number of people that will join via SSR.

SSR is going to be huge. Initially, I don't think there are going to be problems booking at 7 months.

I would stick with VWL but only you can make that decision.

Are you still going to do 70 or are you seriously thinking about 100 if you get MB?

I don't know floridafam. I really don't know......................
I guess I shouldn't worry about MB though until I find out if I can even use it from the waitlist. Did you ever find out about the 10% vs. 20% down?

Okay,

Here is what my guide told me.

You can not use MB on pts that come off the waitlist. (Note: Another guide told me you could)

You pay whatever the pts are selling for at that time.

Because you can't use MB, you have to put 20% down.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

We are definately doing the add on at SSR and removing our names from the waitlist for VWL and VB. We may go back on the waitlist at a later date but right now we just want to get SSR paperwork and down payment out of the way. I don't want to add on at SSR and have them call me the next day and tell me my waitlist came through and they charged my CC.

lenshanem,

I hope this helps.

Good luck with your waitlist.
:D

Thansk floridafam. Ya know, my guide didn't ask for a CC for the down payemnt when the waitlist coems through. Shoudl he ahve?
