I had received an offer through Disney Destinations for a discounted rate of $289 a night for a standard view room. Only problem was the offer expired a week before our planned trip. I contacted Disney through the online chat to ask if it was possible to extend the rate one week so we could take advantage of the offer on our actual anniversary, rather than a week before. The Cast Member did some checking and said that they were not able to extend the rate, but I could book now at the regular rate and hope another offer came through before our trip and rebook at that lower rate.
I passed on that and logged out of the chat. A window popped up asking me to take a survey on my chat experience. I filled out the standard survey questions and in the final remarks box explained what had happened and expressed my disappointment in the rate not being able to be extended. I was nice about it and said I understood why and hit send. Thought that was the end of it.
I got a call the next day from the Special Activities department regarding my survey answers, explained once again what had happened, and the Cast Member once again checked to see if she could extend the offer for me. She came back moments later and said she couldn't, but since she is in a different department, she had an offer for me. That's when she gave me the $189/night rate for the Premium View room, good for the duration of our stay.
It pays to fill out the online surveys!
