Well after a very bad start to the year, with the sudden loss of my mum from a short battle with cancer, i booked a surprise holiday back to our favorite place.
We have booked with birgin on a very good flight only price of 1285 for the 3 off us, with some miles.
We are staying in the international palms on idrive and booked a dodge charger.

I am doing a easter egg hunt for my wife and daughter with the last surprise being the trip on on the laptop for them to be surprised with.
I have booked my wifes time off work and all other details. With everything that has gone on really need this holiday to get some happy days away from the world.

Anyway thought id share my good news with all the good people on here.:thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about your mum.

It sounds like this holiday will be something to lift everyone's spirits - great idea about the Easter egg hunt.:thumbsup2

What a thoughtful person you are that is such a lovely surprise I am sure your wife and daughter will be over the moon  have a great time and hope you have some magical days and there is no better place then Disneyworld to get those x

What a wonderful surprise, your wife and daughter are obviously very lucky to have you
Sorry you lost your mum, coping with such a loss is really hard, I'm sure she's looking over you and smiling especially when your wife and little one get to the end of their egg hunt!!! :thumbsup2

Fantastic surprise - and sounds like exactly what your family needs after a horrid start to the year. I'm sure they will be thrilled.

I'm so sorry about your mum. Last month my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer so my family are at the start of that journey...

what a lovely surprise for your family :goodvibes

sorry about your mum

Thank you for all your kind words and replies, definatly a hard time but as everyone says, not many better places to go and get away from things than disney.

Daysleeper40 So sorry for your bad news, i wouldnt want anyone to go through all that and hope that you all can cope as best you can at this hard time.

If ever you need a chat or anything i would always be willing to listen or help.

Thankyou - I actually feel a bit guilty that OH and I are heading off to Orlando in a month while my dad is having to come to terms with everything and go through chemo (which may or may not be doing any good). My mum is also not coping very well. I know there is no point in cancelling our holiday and I also know that none of my family would want us to either but it still feels a bit wrong. Don't know if I am explaining that very well.

It is the uncertainty that I find the hardest. Doctors have been very clear that there will be no "cure" for my dad and the chemo will only (hopefully) lengthen the time we have left but how long that will be - no one can say. The whole situation is horrible. Trying to stay positive but it isn't easy when you know what the final outcome will be.

Sorry to hear about your Mum, lost mine suddenly 7 years ago age 59. Would have been her 66th Birthday last weekend (day before Mothers day) and this weekend my Cousins wedding who my Mum was very close to. Emotionally definitely the worst week since she died.
Enjoy your trip, best thing you can do.

Thanks wayne mum was 60 its her birthday next week, so gonna be hard.

Daysleeper, as you say i dont think anyone would want you to cancel the holiday you have booked, im sure you will have a great holiday even with everything thats going on. It was definatly the hardest time off my life and i wont lie it isnt any easier at the minute with all the things that come afterwards.

If he hasnt a will id see if one could be done, my mum never had one and now i have to apply for probate and all other kind off things which doesnt make things any easier, i really dont know what to say in such circumstances as anything anyone says probably wont be the right thing. All i can say is do and say everything you want to say now. It may seem very hard at the minute but you will be glad you at least get this time however long it is to do and say what you can.

I also see your going in a month.
We fly out 13th may from manchester with virgin. when abouts do you go?

We will be there at the same time - we head off on 9th from Gatwick. Getting very excited about it now!

The weird thing at the moment is my dad essentially feels fine still - says it is like he is waiting for someone to say it is all one big sick joke. All a bit surreal. I know he already has a will and is being quite straight forward about sorting things out for when he is no longer with us - but thank you for the thought.

My big sister is getting married in July so that is something to look forward to - but the big C makes everything seem much more emotional and a bit fraught tbh. You want to make the most of everything and say all the important things but at the same time you need a bit of normality. Anyway, enough about my family - lets talk about yours.

I really hope you have a fab time on your holiday - do you have any special plans or just going to see how the mood takes you? I bet you can't wait to unleash the surprise?!

Unfortunatly on my mum, she was taken into hospital with a swollen stomuch and never really made it out over the next 7 weeks untill 3 or 4 days before she went, no quality off life for her.
As you say enough off the sad things.

Well ive booked cinderellas royal castle for dinner, as the daughter is really into her princess at the minute. Not really planning too much else to be honest as i will let them decide most things, but definatly gonna try to relax and take as much in as we can. We was their in sept and it was all rush rush rush, so going to try and appreciate it as much as we can, we have some friends out their at the same time to meet with. Also we are going back next may for a wedding, mostly disney and treating it as a rest this holiday.
How about yourself?
