Finally, A Concrete Reason NOT to Get DDP

We are going to be purchasing a FL resident annual pass in September (yeah!!! moving to FL next month!!!) :yay: So I was pretty excited the other day to see that AP rates had been released for September . We already have room only reservations at POP with a PIN code my husband got sent back in January.

When I asked about turning our room rates into an AP package with dining, it would have added more than $350 to our cost (and this is an *AP* rate with no tickets!) and we would have had switch to AS Mu instead of POP. Since this is just a short weekend trip (two nights) to take in the start of the F&W Festival, even the cast member pretty much said it would be a waste to switch our reservations.

I had been torturing myself with "what ifs" but the rate Disney quoted me made it plain that at least in this instance it made NO sense to get the DDP. Even with F&W snacks and drinks, I can definitely feed two adults and two toddlers for 2 1/2 days for less than $350, even at Disney!!! It was good to get the proof in black and white so to speak of what I already had sensed to be the case.

so now I'm just going to get the DDE card. and we will only make occasional TS reservations, instead of having our days ruled by them. The dining plan makes sense in some instances, but NOT this one!

lucky you! hope all goes well with the move. sure wish I had that as a reason not to ddp! :goodvibes

Nice, also hope to move to Florida sometime after I retire. Don't forget to add the Tips to the $350 that you have to pay this year on the DDP. We went for 6 nights 2 week ago and for 4 of us paid $180 in tips. But going the last week in Sept. for free dining just ME and DW so won't mind paying for the tips as much since dining is free. It is nice to use the snack credits at the Wine and Food Fest.

We went in March without the DDP for the 1st time in 2 years. It was a wonderful experience for 2 reasons:

1. The DDE card will allow you to eat whatever you want (apps and drinks included with the discount)
2. As you said, the days were not ruled by dining - much less stressful

This is OT, but I just wanted to remind you to take a close look at the Florida Resident Seasonal pass. It has some significant blackout dates that make it impractical for some families, but it's about $130 less than the price of a FL AP.

The biggest block of blackout dates is early June to mid-August, and you won't be here during that period this year anyway. The other blackoouts are Easter week and just before Christmas to New Years.

Yes, thanks for the tip -- that is exactly what we're planning on getting. My husband can't stand Orlando when it's hot and/or crowded, so we wouldn't be going during those black out times anyway!
