Morning everybody! The year for our trip is finally here and we're double checking our stay just to make sure we're getting the best value for us. I have a few questions!

This is our current booking:
Week in Nov (Sat-Sat) at Old Key West
1 BR Villa wheelchair accessible w/roll in shower
5 day park tickets, Memory Maker and Disney Dining Plan

Looking around I noticed that Art of Animation Cars Suite wheelchair accessible w/roll in shower, 5 park days, Memory Maker and Disney Dining Plan for the same week is about $735 cheaper than OKW. We're a family of four with me being the one using a wheelchair/powerchair.
  1. Would you guys switch your booking to AoA? Why or why not?
  2. We're hoping to be able to eat breakfast most days in the room, usually cereal or pop-tarts, as well as be able to reheat leftovers/snacks. Would keeping cold milk be an issue at AoA? The OKW room we have booked is supposed to have a full size kitchen so that's a plus for us.
  3. Does the Skyliner accommodate powerchairs? I've watched plenty of YouTube videos, but the door openings on the Skyliner look a bit narrow. My powerchair fits through a normal hotel door but I don't want to go and then have the Skyliner not work for me.
Thanks for any information you can provide!

- The Skyliner has a separate section to load those in wheelchairs/power chairs, so I would not worry about that too much. The convenience of using it to get to two parks is huge IMO. BUT....if someone in your party is afraid of rides like that I wouldn't stay there. I don't think my mom would be able to tolerate it.
- I've not stayed at AoA in a Family Suite before, so I can't answer your question about keeping milk cold.

Perks of OKW - extended evening hours benefit and a w/d in the unit
Perks of AoA - a second bathroom and the pull down bed as opposed to the pull out chair

$735 is a good chunk of change IMO. I'd probably switch, but only you can decide what works best for your family. You could probably use that $$ to add on an extra day or purchase tickets to MVMCP or Jollywood Nights (if your dates coincide with those events).

AoA will have a second bathroom which is huge if you have a family of 4 or more. Especially tweens/teens that can hog bathroom time.

I believe the fridge in the suites at AoA are real fridges. Not the beverage coolers in the regular rooms.

If you weren't depending on the EEH then I would definitely move.

I’d switch to AoA as well. Transportation from OKW to parks is bus only, and there are multiple stops around the resort. Depending on where in the route you are, if you’re traveling at busy times of day, you might wait for more than one bus for a scooter/wheelchair spot to be available. At AoA, there is only one stop for the MK and AK buses, so a single access point and line for scooters/wheelchairs. Having the Skyliner for transport to DHS and Epcot is a game changer, with the special loading area for mobility devices. OKW is also a much larger and more spread out resort; at AoA, it's easy to get to the food court.

Thanks everyone for the advice. For now we've decided to keep our OKW booking. The room is almost twice the size of the AoA room and the extra bathroom wouldn't be useful as no one is a particularly hoggy bathroom person. Also, the full kitchen and washer/dryer (I didn't know about the W/D!) will be useful, especially if, God forbid, anyone gets sick or anything. Thanks again guys!

We've stayed at OKW multiple times with 2 scooters either with a 1-bd or 2-bd and the rooms are HUGE!! We love having the extra space, a full-size W/D to do laundry and the full-size kitchen is a definite plus (we only do breakfast in the room). We've been at South Point, Miller's Pond, and Peninsular Road and have only ever had to wait for a 2nd bus once once in the morning--but if we were doing rope rope and were out early, we never had to catch a 2nd bus. Now if we'd have been at Hospitality House (last pick-up). yes, we would've waited. Personally, I wouldn't worry about the transportation at OKW. If you are, I would put in a request to be near Peninsular Road, which is the first pick-up/drop-off and very close to the lobby/poo, etc.
