Ok you lovely people, off to the World next month :cheer2: and I am in the final stages of planning! My boyfriend isn't helping with our plan  so I am kinda doing it all myself!

We are there for 2 weeks! We land on a Sunday about 4pm so after a 9 hour flight etc we won't be doing much. How many days to you think we should go before we have a rest day and generally from people's past holidays, how many rest days you would you say you have over the 2 weeks?

:goodvibes

rest days....now thats a good question which I am unable to answer! We just keep on going and going and never take a day out to just do nothing and sit next to a pool. We do our pool time at night or first thing (at dawn) in the morning. DH and I hit 'the wall' at different times, me on about day 5 and him a couple of days later. On the 'wall days' we may do something like a hotel tour by all the different WDW transport options. For some reason we just don't like taking days out it sort of feels wrong to us. Plenty of time to rest when we get back...:)

We don't have rest days either. I can't sit still in Florida, always need to be on the go.

Wow, these were not the type of answers I was expecting!! :rotfl:
I thought all people had a rest day, :rotfl2: As much as I hate to admit it I think we will be planning to have a couple of rest days in there somewhere!!

We have rest days - but by those we mean not in the main parks. We'll go shopping, or DTD, or a water park, or another Disney resort, or maybe a combination of one or two of those with the resort pool. Probably not get up as early on those days.

I just can't do 'nothing' for a whole day LOL! Our itinerary this year has 2 park days, then rest day, then 2 park days, then rest day etc. I find no more than 3 days in a main park in a row or I get too tired. Everyone does something different though, and you do what suits you.

Also, although we have an itinerary, there's no guarantee that we're going to stick to it! We'll go with the flow a bit too.

We talk every year of taking it a bit easier and having a rest day. 21 years later and yet to have one , not even a mall break :)

You shouldn't feel bad about wanting a rest , after all you are there to enjoy yourself it's just different people seem to cope differently than others. I've friends who go regualrly and they will spend hours and hours in the resort , whole mornings or afternoons by the pool! we have fun chats about this all the time.

Horses for courses as my old gran used to say :)

I'm not planning rest days, but I'm planning opportunities for rest days.

I'm always prepared to give up on a few days (ADRs, parks) in case we hit the wall.
For example, for the day after a MNSSHP I plan a Water Park day. The parks open at 10, and there is opportunity to relax more at a WP than at a regular park.
I'm not making the trip too intense. A park day with a "must-do" ADR or experience (pirate league, dessert party, special event) is always followed by a slow day. This makes it easier (and less heart breaking) to cancel activities and ADR for the next day if we think we need a rest.
I do not plan rest days, I'm just planning open days. These days are multi-choice, backup plans. I always plan backup plans in case of unclement weather for example.

Weekends are slow/rest days no matter what.
Parks get crazy, shopping malls are hell. Weekends are sleep in, resort pool days, and resort touring.

But even on slow days, we get a lot done. There is no such thing as a real rest day while in WDW.

The 2 on then a rest day was kind of the idea I was going with! So that's good :thumbsup2

I have made a plan of sorts just to give us a rough idea about what we want to do but if we won't to change it round a bit that's fine :goodvibes

I think we would look to have at least of of the weekends off that we are there so that's cool :thumbsup2

Rest days, what are those. Our rest is the plane on the way home:rotfl2:

:rotfl: Same for us.

We stop and eat meals, sit down watching shows in the parks and sit waiting for parades and fireworks. That counts as our rest. I find short breaks when we need them are far more effective than taking a whole day out.

Just to add, if you aren't already aware of this, Disney WILL make changes to park hours before the end of the month for September so keep this in mind if you are planning around park hours. Usually the only parks affected are DHS and MK where they extend the hours on certain days and sometimes add in a show or parade here and there.

Never taken or planned a 'Rest Day' even with DD and grandparents in their 70s in tow. We will go to a main park every day but we do not stay there from open to close. I also do not travel all that way to sit by a pool all day even the very nice Disney pools.

I would rather do a few hours then do something else - missing the biggest crowds (and in summer the heat and humidity). Most afternoons we swim for an hour or so.

In December we have a day at the beach planned with our local friend however I can see us popping to MK to watch the fireworks in the evening still.

Hi
You have a lot of choice in how you run our holiday and this will depend on if you need 'rest days' in my opinion. If you are an-all-day-at-a-park-from-9am-to-midnight kind of person then you will probably not be able to keep this up for two weeks without coming home needing a holiday! I imagine you would need a much more easygoing day every few days then maybe...

We have never been able to do that sort of holiday. Our usual pattern is to be at a park for opening, stay until around 2pm, come back to the resort for the rest of the afternoon and then head off back to a park in the evening maybe doing a couple of attractions scheduled around an evening meal - sometimes staying for fireworks etc. We do this about 3 days in a row and then have a water park day which is much slower paced for us. Also sometimes we will have a lie in day when we just get up when we are ready, potter about the resort until around 11am and then head down to downtown disney for a few hours. On these days we will sometimes head into a park around 3pm, doing some of the quieter attractions, eating a meal and staying for the fireworks. We are real creatures of habit and just pick every holiday up like this from where we left off!

You just need to find your holiday rhythm!:)
