Final Payment Question

I'm sorry for your loss and for all the extra stress! I h ave two ideas. First, do you have a credit card you could put the balance on for the week or two until you will have the cash! Then you could pay that off and still not pay interest. If not, is there anything you could temporarily downgrade on your Disney package to lower your balance? If you have a package with tickets, maybe take the tickets down to single day tickets with no options and then just upgrade them back to whatever you need upon arrival at your resort. Just be sure if you had something like free dining which required a certain number of park days that you keep that minimum.

Thanks for all the replies. We have credit cards for emergencies only and the emergency was our dog. I can't imagine Disney wanting to cancel our vacation and pay us back over 4000. I have looked online and FW cabins are still available. My guess is if they cancel us our cabin will most likely stay empty. Oh well. I will hope for the best and hold my breath for 8 more days.

I'm so sorry for your loss, our first dog together was our baby too, and when he died suddenly it was terrible.

This years trip we had several urgent bills come up right before our balance was to be paid off and my next paycheck fell a few days after our 45 day mark. I had also called and was told that while she could note our account about the payment she could not extend our payoff date. She was very nice about it, but would not tell me anything besides keep checking back, and go ahead and call to make my final payment on that friday. The day after my payoff date I got an e-mail from Disney with the below:

The Walt Disney Travel Company reservation mentioned above is PAST DUE for final payment. Please be advised that final travel documents cannot be issued until final payment is received and deposited.

THIS RESERVATION WILL AUTOMATICALLY CANCEL AT 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE DEPARTURE DATE SHOWN ABOVE.

So as long as you pay by 30 days you should be good. I was able to still go online and pay my balance a few days later.

Well I talked with a supervisor (I think). He told me it was noted on my account. Although they can't guarantee that my trip won't be cancelled he said I will receive 2 emails prior to cancellation. He said they USUALLY won't cancel before 30 days out. I asked why they couldn't give me a date. I mean it's not like my trip could be cancelled on day 44 while Joe Smith can have until 30 days. I thought they would have had the same policy for everyone. So I didn't get the answer I was hoping for but at least I can once I get the emails I will have a better idea.

Regarding the part I bolded above, I actually think the opposite is true. Part of the keep calling back until you get the answer you want advice people often give has to do with CM's giving incorrect info, but Disney is also master of making "a one time exception" to their own rules, and people know it.

I hope everything works out for you.

Thank you so much. This is exactly our situation. I will have the final payment on 36 days out.

Bless your heart! I hope everything works out okay (although I might consider trying what a previous poster mentioned about downgrading the package in some way to put you on the safe side).

I just got this exact letter today. I feel a little better knowing that I have until the 30 day mark (even though I will be paying before that). I will be paying in 7 days so maybe I i will give then a call back in a few days to remind them when I am paying and make sure it is still noted on my account.

I just wanted to thank all for the replies. I paid my final payment yesterday around 5am (my time). As I stated in a pp I received 1 email and that was it. I am glad I called though. I am so glad that the stress is over. Now I'm on schedule and I'm ready for my trip.
