Sorry, I am sure I'm not posting in the correct place here, but was wondering if anyone knew what the "rules" are for needing to extend the final payment date by a couple of weeks? Anyone have experience in this??
Thanks:)

I know they make exceptions and you will need to call them to find out the details of a payment arrangement. A co-worker of mine is checking in August 15th and is still making payments on her trip so it clearly can be done. Good Luck!

We are checking in Sept 9 and our due date is July 25-however, we have a few unexpected things that have come up (goodness gracious, isn't there ALWAYS something unexpected??) so I need just 2-3 more weeks.....

If the balance isn't paid by the final payment day (45 days prior to arrival), you should receive an email or some sort of notification that the balance is overdue. You will have until 30 days from arrival to pay in full, otherwise the reservation will automatically cancel. As the pp suggested, I would call Disney and explain the situation and then try to get the trip paid for as soon as possible. Good luck.

Out of curiosity, since you are Disney "veteran", do you have any idea if it's possible to switch this $$ that I have down on the parks to a Disney Cruise?? Just thought I'd see if you know....I booked through a TA and I'm still waiting to hear what their rules are on extending due date, so I'm not able to call Disney myself about my particular ressie...

I don't know for sure, but my guess is no. The cruises, even though they are still Disney, are different reservations, so I don't think there's any way to transfer money from one to the other. We are taking our first DCL cruise in December, so I'm still learning things on that end ;).

I didn't think to say this in my first post, but could you lessen the amount of your package and pay the balance by the final payment date, and then add the components back on a week or two later? I'm not sure how many ticket days you have or if you have the DDP, but you could drop the tickets down to a 1 day base for everybody (or 2 day base if you're booked under FD) and drop the DDP (unless you have FD), and then add the DDP and upgrade the tickets when you have the money. Or you could get the minimum ticket days for your package and upgrade those when you get to Disney. The DDP must be added at least 72 hours (3 days) prior to arrival, so as long as it's added back on by that time, you will be fine. Usually the $50 change fee is only charged when the cost of a package decreases, but in your case, it would increase, so there shouldn't be a charge. HTH :).

Oh my goodness, I had not thought of that!! That's an excellent idea! I could switch down to free QS for now, then add back on free regular dining??? I think that would make a difference....Thanks so much! By the way, we did our Disney Cruise last Sept, it was the BEST vacation ever, we did Fantasy, we were not disappointed in any way:) Hope you have a blast!

Unfortunately, you can't move $$ from a WDW room reservation to a DCL reservation. From what I understand, they operate as two completely different companies.

Glad I could help :goodvibes.

Yes, if you upgraded from free QSDP to DDP, you could go back to the QSDP and upgrade later. Just make sure you do it at least 3 days before arrival as that's the cut off for adding dining ;). And, like I mentioned before, depending on how much you need to deduct right now, you can also downgrade your park tickets (unless you already have the minimum 2 day base) and upgrade those when you upgrade the DDP or wait to upgrade the tickets once you're there.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise in September :boat:. My DH and I have cruised before but our DSs have not, so it will be interesting to see how they like it. And this is our first DCL cruise, so that will be new for all of us :goodvibes.
