Final Liberty Belle ride

Just rode the last Liberty Belle for non cast members and very emotional as the route was lined with cast members and observers waving, some crying. I’ll say it was never on my radar whenever we would come to MK but feel lucky to have taken one last trip on it. Was too late for Tom Sawyer island. I hope Cars really is a huge hit but always sad to see originals go the way of the dinosaur.

I’ve gone on the River boat off and on over the years. Definitely going to miss it. Especially the sounds and the visual aspect it brings to the park

I would have been on the last one but had to get to the airport. I managed a last ride though. And this.

Saying goodbye was extremely important to me bc Mom loved the Liberty Belle so much and I have so many fond memories of it with her.

That’s awesome! Glad you rode it today too! I feel like 90% of everything we love about Disney is nostalgia based and I’m ok with that lol.

I have to agree. While I respect everyone's feelings on the subject, I am not sad to see it go. I'm ambivalent.

I am excited for new things. :)
I will miss the boat far more than TSI. But ultimately it’s the water features and the “natural” beauty of the area that I enjoy, and if the new area looks anything like the concept art, it will be beautiful too.

And tbh. I am glad MK will have something unique again. I don’t need or want it to be a carbon copy of DL and I think moving in this direction for Frontierland makes a lot of sense. Heck it will even tie the land in more with Wilderness Lodge the way Adventureland = Poly, Tomorrowland = CR.

I'm looking forward to the Cars and Villains expansions

Us, too. I know the island and the river boat were iconic - they were there forever. But I can't remember the last time we went to MK and actually rode the boat or went to the island. It's literally been decades. But I know for a fact we'll be riding the new Cars attraction - love the one in DL......

I just hope it doesn’t result in standbys of over 100 mins a la DCA…

Real ambience and kinetic energy will be lost here whether people liked to ride it or not. People will subconsciously notice -- water, its motion, lights reflecting off of it at night, the ambient sounds and lights of the boat and the general overall presence it adds. It's part of what makes things a theme park and not an amusement park. I haven't been real wowed by most of their big promises for about the last decade, but I guess we shall see.

Yes, but according to plans, that ambience will be replaced with water, springs, a small geyser, trees, bridges and Piston Peak. Plus a ride. None of us know if it will turn out to be what we hope for until it's done.

In the meantime, like I said once before, if we all survived the awful HUB construction and then WallCot, we will survive this construction. :D

So glad to hear that it was acknowledged so fondly. I hate that they're doing away with such an photographed attraction, a true "picture" of the Magic Kingdom.

Is the wooden walkway still open between HM and close to BTMRR?

In things they've taken away the past decade or so, this one didn't rank for me. But like many here, I know some people who loved it. Tom Sawyer too. Will not really miss it and more excited for what's coming.

I think it’s a bit premature to declare anything permanently lost other than the boat tbqh. We know there will be water features in the new area, and just because it won’t be the same as it was before, that does not necessarily mean it will be inherently worse. Ambience and kinetic energy are important to a theme park, but so is actually utilizing spaces, and TSI did that very badly. It needed to go a long time ago. If we can get an area that does both, it’ll be a huge win. And I’m willing to see what happens. Pandora is stunning and so is Batuu, especially at night. Both are very immersive too.

I will absolutely miss the Rivers but it’s possible to be sad about it while not writing off any change altogether.
