FINAL Illuminations Dessert Arrangements - UPDATED POST #1 8/8/06

Rhonda- Thank you so much for organizing this! It is going to be so much fun. I am so excited about the UK terrace. :thumbsup2 What a fantastic WISH celebration!

Tiff- Wear our medals? No need to remind me. I will be wearing mine non-stop for the entire week after the marathon. I have already started inserting "I'm training for the marathon" into every single conversation I have. Strangers on airplanes, taxi drivers, hotel clerks, fellow elevator riders. If I'm already this annoying in August just wait until January! :lmao:

I went ahead and put the latest update details along with the price chart etc. on the first post of this thread. Hopefully this will make it easier for everyone to find the newst information!

Rhonda -- Thanks again soooo much for organizing this.
I know it probably seems clueless, but can you remind me what time the event is? I (and others) may have to move our dinner ressies a little earlier.
I can't wait to see everyone there with their medals on! :cool1:

Reason I shoudl have asked on the thread and not via pm. Rhonda thought it was btwn 8:30 and 8:45 when I asked. She may know more specifically now. So we can do the last night of Oborne Family lights and still hit Illuminations! :teeth:

Dumb question: We need a tic into Epcot, right?

Ohboyohboyohboy!

I am so in on this. I know DH and I will love being able to share the experience with my WISH Team and families!

Dumb question: We need a tic into Epcot, right?
yup must have ticket into the park.

Since I had a few people ask about the start time and didn't want to lead anybody wrong, I sent an email to the catering manager. As soon as I hear back from her I'll post the information here so everyone can see it.

Last time, I believe we met at around 8:30 or 8:45 and then stayed for an hour (a little longer actually - they were nice about just letting us hang around a while even though they were packing up/cleaning up). Hopefully it will be the same this time!

I just can't tell you all how excited I am about this event. Last time I organized one it was very small (only 22 people I think) and they were all DISers who just happened to be at WDW at the time. So I didn't really know any of them and while it was fun talking with everyone it can't compare with sharing the event with my WISH friends.

Since I can't make Friday night, I am especially looking forward to this! Thanks again Rhonda!!!

The catering manager returned my email concerning the timing of the event. She said that at 8:30 p.m. our guide will escort us to the terrace to begin our party. We will then have until 9:30 p.m. (as I said previously they didn't really kick us out too quickly last time so we'll hope for that this time but no guarantees obviously) to eat, visit and watch the show. Of course, you'd like to be there right at 8:30 p.m. to get the most out of the event but arriving a little late will not pose a problem.

One more wrench she did throw in though - the venue fee has changed to $250 since the original paperwork we received (Mel/Chimera had gotten the information a little while back and forwarded it to me) and it is taxed at 6.5% as well. This would affect the price by about $1/person but since we are still adding people I think it will be a wash at this point. Just when it seems I have it all figured out...... :)

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Yippee! It is all coming together.

I do have a question. You said they would escort us at 8:30. Does this mean we are to meet elsewhere?

Sorry, if this is posted already I missed it.

Lily - we can meet right by the UK Fish 'n Chips restaurant as the terrace is right next to it. If we all plan to meet in that general area it will be easy to spot everyone and our guide can escort us down the walkway. They do this to help prevent "crashers" from joining in and also to help us navigate the walkway in the somewhat darkened conditions.

Any other questions? I am happy to answer what I can and find out the rest!

I'll bring the green WISH flag!! We can rally around that by the UK Fish'n Chips while we wait to be escorted to our terrace!! Oh, this is just going to ge so great!!! :goodvibes Anne

This sounds so wonderful! Thank you, Rhonda!
I just changed our LeCellier reservation to 5:30 just to be sure we are done in time. The strangest thing is the dining reservationist was very reluctant to change the reservation to 6 when I asked her to, and said to just show up at the earlier time, but I was pretty insistent that she change it. Then it turned out 6pm was completely booked and she was still saying to just show up. I did persuade her to book it for 5:30 and got a new reservation number. Strange. Actually, this is probably better as we may actually be hungry for dessert by the time 8:30 rolls around.
Thanks again, Rhonda!

OK, my numbers are finalized... there will be 2 of us.

The in-laws decided they would rather watch the girls that night than stay up late and eat sweets. They are early birds. But DH and I will be there. Everytime we go to Epcot and see a private party we always wish we could do that... now we are!!!!

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow.. go away for a few weeks and look at all the GREAT planning that has been going on!! Wow.. great job! Is it too late to jump on the party bandwagon? I assume that this is for the Marathon weekend? It is late and i am full of cold medicine..so... I just want to make sure :)

If it is.. then I would Love to be included... I will be there solo to do my first 1/2 and so.. my vote would be

Sun - Yes - 1
Mon - Yes - 1
and the Build your own

Did I get that right? LOL!!

Thanks!
kathy

Hi Kathy.

Glad you found our thread! There is still time to add you to the list as the contract won't be signed for a couple of more weeks.

The UK lower terrace at Epcot is reserved for our group on Sunday January 7, 2007 and we have chosen the Old World Classics in Miniature via majority vote :) The party will be from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and will be $37/person.

After I get the contract done in the next couple of weeks, I'll let everyone know and we can work out the payments then.

If you have any other questions, just let me know!

Is there room for 2 more on Sunday? Yesterday, DH decided that he didn't want to fly out right after Goofy, so we'll be around.

I'm always too shy to post, but do way too much lurking...Maybe the prosepct of meeting the crowd will push me to come out of my shell!

Hi Disneybelle!

Glad you de-lurked to join this thread. Yes, we can still add 2 to our ever-growing list of WISH attendees :) I'll get in touch with you once I am ready to accept payments but will go ahead and add your names to the list right now.

FYI everyone - the catering manager I am working with is out of town for the week so I probably won't get any paperwork until next week at the earliest. I promise to keep you all apprised as the situation changes!

DS is now coming to participate in his first full! I would like to add him to our list. We will now be 3 adults.

Hi Rhonda,

if it's not too late, I'd love to add two more people to the list. Is there still room?

chris

Hi Chris.

Yes, I can still add 2 more to our group. Glad you can join us!

I am waiting for the contracts to arrive this week and then will need to look over them. I will share all of the info on payments etc. at that point.

Looking forward to January!
