After speaking with my travel agent/Disney Vacation Specialist girl ( :mickey: ), I'm down to 2 choices with the Summer Discount. Keep in mind both of these were around $3,400 before the Summer Discounts were announced!

1) Standard Room at Boardwalk Inn, park hoppers included. $2,637.10

2) Standard Room at Animal Kingdom Lodge (CLUB LEVEL!), park hoppers included. $2,881.74

Aaahhh!! Man does this put me in a predicament. For all those who haven't been reading my previous threads, I'm looking to surprise my girlfriend with a week-long trip to DW for her birthday! And....I'm *most likely* going to propose too! So I want this to be mega romantic. I'm about to put the $200 deposit down so I figured I'd shoot my final question and big decision here. Before...I was down to BC and BWI, but then I threw out the Beach Club and just when I thought I'd settle on BWI...my travel girl throws this amazing price quote at me for AKL, club level! And then she told me that all club level rooms at AKL have savannah views! How incredible.....

Should I go for room quality, further away from the action in AKL? Or be right up-close and personal, within walking distance of Epcot and DHS and go for BWI? The price difference is close enough where I could really choose either one of these.

If this helps....we were planning on spending more than just one day at either DHS or Epcot because of the close distance from the Boardwalk area. And I have:

1 ADR in DTD
1 ADR in Epcot
2 ADRs in DHS
1 ADR in MK (breakfast)
1 ADR in Poly (ohana)
1 ADR in Contempo (cali grill)
1 ADR in AK (breakfast)
1 ADR in AKL (boma which was worrying me wondering how we're gonna get back to our resort since AK will be closed..)

Thank you so so much, I love you guys!!

I would do the Boardwalk. It is an awesome area. So much to do, the ability to walk to DHS and Epcot are huge pluses. Club level is great I suppose and if it was closer I would say go for it.. But do BW.. It's a great area!!

I would stick with the BWI MHO .

The AK club rooms are not all are savannah views. I know this because we went two years ago & went with friends; we got the savannah view & they didn't. Again MHO

The BWI has such great views & places that you could pop the question. Either one you decide and in the end it is really up to you have fun & good luck !!

* Also the club level rooms are not on the same floor as the lounge but on the 4th floor, lounge is on 6th floor :)

What's all the fuss with Club Level anyway? Is the club lounge food really worth it? Would we really be able to take full advantage of the itinerary planning?

I think I would go with BWI. I haven't stayed there, but have stayed at Yacht Club (same general area). And I tell you, if you're going to propose, the perimeter of the lake that joins all of the Epcot area resorts is simply gorgeous. Plus it's fun to be near all of the action, and you're within short distance to 2 of the parks.

Obviously just my opinion, and I'm sure you'll be happy with either place. Good luck!

They are both great resorts. Akl rooms are smaller. There's only the 2 of you so that would not be a problem. I have stayed Cl before, but not at WDW. This will be our first time. If you drink and you don't mind a continental breakfast I think it's a good value. There is a club level thread that will answer some of your questions.

I would choose BW because I would be bored to death at AKl for anything longer than a night or two. If you want a quiet vacation then Akl might be better match. Have you ever considered splitting your stay?

I would go with the BWI even though I love the AKL as well. I feel like the BWI location is just too great to pass up in this case- plus, I find that setting a bit more romantic as well. I would definitely prefer to spend $ on nice dinners out than the concierge lounge! Perhaps try out Boma or Jiko at AKL for dinner one night just so you can see it?

Congratulations and have a great trip!:goodvibes

Another vote for BWI - I'm always a fan of having the ability to walk to two of the parks. The thought of having to bus to all 4 parks would kill it for me.

I would go with BWI! I love that area and the resort is very romantic. We spent our 10th anniversary there and loved it so much we went back for our 11th!

I have stayed at both resorts (as you can probably tell from my signature ;)) and I have say that I would choose AKL Club Level (I assume Savannah View) over BWI Standard View. I find AKL to be a more romantic resort in general and a Savannah View of the animals beats the heck out of a parking lot view. Yeah, you're closer to the "action" at Boardwalk, but there is a lot to be said for the remote, quiet, private feeling you can get at AKL ... like it's just you and your soon-to-be-finace. The Club Level offerings will make things extra special for you and worth it, IMO, for a mere $200 more. The breakfast is one step up from the usual "continental breakfast", plus they offer evening snacks and dessert and alcoholic beverages. All served in a comfortable lounge exclusive to Club Level guests that overlooks the lobby.

I would do go w AKL. Plus if you are CL there you can do the sunrise safari.

Hard decision. How about both as a PP mentioned? The next trip we plan we want to try a split stay. Either way, you can't go wrong. How exciting for you! :cool1:

Personally I would go AKL Club Level for the romance factor. True the resort is farther from the parks but the travel really isn't all that bad, plus lets be honest, if you tell IPO you are planning to propose I'd put money on it they make sure you have a good Savannah View! Now don't get me wrong, BWI is my favorite resort, but for a possible engagement setting, AKL would be beautiful! The resort is like a vacation in itself and really so peaceful. The lounge is fantastic and theres Wine nightly!

I would go with AKL CL and I would book the safari!!! And I agree, I bet IPO would help make the proposal super fun!

I think you'd find AKL more romantic and quiet for your stay. The pool area is beautiful, while BW has a huge clown pool that attracts kids like a magnet. Have you thought about where you'd like to propose? If you're not sure let that help make your decision. Like PPs have said the resort will probably be helpful in that way, but what about a spot outside of the resort? Like some romantic spot in World Showcase? Italy or France may be a wonderful place to propose and they are close to BW. Just throwing out some ideas. Good luck. Where ever you pick should be wonderful.

It looks like all the BWI lovers posted first:rotfl:. I have never stayed at BWI, but absolutely love AKL - I would consider it very romantic! If you are into African/Safari theming, it is absolutely the best. The artwork alone, located all over the hotel, is better than a museum. Plus there are gatherings at the fire pit, night vision, animal talks, etc. so there is stuff to do - just different than the boardwalk. I find the boardwalk to have more of a carnival atmosphere, so if that is what you are looking for - then stay there. The AKL bar is really one of the better resort bars plus AKL has 3 great restaurants, beyond the food court. I would recommend Sanaa over Boma for a romantic dinner. Club level IMHO would be a step up since you will have access to continental breakfast, evening snacks and evening cordials including beer and wine, not to mention concierge services which could help you with your proposal plans. Either way you will have a great trip - so I think you must ultimatlely decide which "theme" and amenities will serve you best. Have a wonderful trip!

Okay....here's my big question:

-What can concierge do for me? I already booked all my ADR's...
And I mean...IPO...What can they do for us?

We have stayed AKV Club twice and didn't use the IPO either time. It wasn't really a selling point for us since, like you, we made all our own ADRs. We *did* book the Sunrise Safari once (only available to AKL/V Club guests) and the IPO staff checks you in personally which is nice. You go up to the Lounge floor and check in there instead of at the front desk. You also get a pretty cool gold colored KTTW card ;).

If you're in a park, and use your KTTW card to pay for stuff so it appears on your room bill, and a restaurant like California Grill sees your gold Club level card, will they think anything different? lol Like will they give any perks or special treatment?

Then again...you'd be showing them the card AFTER your meal so...:confused3
