I read somewhere that one of the water fountains in MK has filtered water. Can someone please let me know which one this is....Thank you.

New one on me.

I can't imagine that there would be one (and only one) "holy grail" of drinking fountains in MK.

But, I've missed things before.

You may be remembering a reader suggestion published on MouseSavers:

In front of Guest Services on Main Street, there are two water fountains. The fountain on the left hand side is filtered much better and tastes much like bottled water. You can often see cast members filling water bottles when on break.

I only wish I had a cool map of this part of the park where I could show you with colored labels. Maybe another poster has something like that... ;)

That would be in the vicinity of #17 below-

You can get flitered ice water at any of the Counter Service locations for free, it would be out of the way from most of the park to walk all the way back up there unless you just stopped on your way in.

That was my point about the "holy grail" of MK drinking fountains.

Who would want to (or be able to) walk back to that one and only fountain just to get a drink, or even refill a bottle?

just side note. our family doesn't drink from fountains b/c of risk of mono.
it's not just an urban legend. I was unable to post links to articles, but
it's a for real problem. i have two friends who have suffered tremendously b/c of contracting mono at about college age. they had terrible on-going health probs from it. both were told they probably got it from drinking fountains.

so, we'll toss some powedered drink mix into the narly tap water & deal w/it :)

just food (or drink! haha!) for thot :rolleyes1

hmmm...college kids come down with Mono (the kissing disease) and the most likely suspect is a water fountain? I'm sure you could potentially catch it from a fountain (if someone else lipped the actual faucet and you came along right after and some of the bacteria got transported by the water from the faucet to your mouth) - but I'm thinking swapping spit with Johnny in between calculus and medieval lit is the more likely cause.

my wife is a doctor and says this is highly unlikely. Mono is transmitted through saliva - so only if someone were to lick or put their entire mouth on the drinking fountain such that the saliva could be transported (via the water) into your mouth (very, very unlikely) - or you put your mouth on the water fountain also. The virus that causes mono is not likely to live very long on a water fountain.

I'd love to see those links i.e., don't believe everything you read on the internet.

actually, both girls shared the same values as I did. First kiss was husband at the altar...so, no didn't come from a liplock after calculus...

their family docs were the one's who said "water fountain."

here's weblinks:

and this:

I've absolutely seen people with their mouths all over the fountain (especially if pressure isn't good). But I turned "fountain-free" when leaned over one & someone had a "protein spill" in the basin---I Just never recovered from that experience!

anyway, just my thing...:surfweb:
