Filming movies in your town

I'm also in the Vancouver area so yep, lots of things filmed in and around here. Most of the Hallmark movies are filmed in the 'burbs here and a friend of mine has been an extra in a few of the most recent Christmas movies.

Yes, in the town where I used to live they filmed scenes from Sopranos, Garden State and A Good Person. Happy Gilmore 2 just finished shooting there as well. My hometown has a movie premiering at the Sundance Film Festival this week called Bucks Co.

We live in a pretty little historic town in CT and quite a few Hallmark movies were filmed here or near here. We went to watch them shoot and it was fun to see the buildings and grounds blanketed with snow in the summer.

So it's not my vision 🥸🥸🥸.... but hey 👋 👋 I don't watch them....my brother in law does...he says that Hallmark viewing helps cut down the severity of his nightmares after watching hours and hours of horror viewing

I only know of one film where parts were filmed within 2 miles of my home. That was Me, Myself and Irene. A Jim Carrey movie. Though most of it was filmed in Rhode Island, parts of it were in the Burlington, Vermont area. The Train station, the rural store scene, the Junk yard and the Helicopter scene, I think there was a diner scene filmed in the area as well. Other than that I know of none.

When we still worked in the office, I worked in downtown Boston. Lots of movies filmed there. I walked past the set of RIPD once, which famously flopped at the box office. I also visited the campus of Emmanuel College when they were preparing for the arrival of the Ghostbusters (2016) crew. Also a flop. Filmmakers would do well to keep me off their locations. I’m bad luck.

I also lived in a city just north of Boston where parts of Black Mass were filmed. Only they needed to make it look like Miami Beach so they temporarily planted palm trees on our North Shore beach which confused a lot of residents.

When I lived in Atlanta, they frequently used streets near my place as NYC. Lots of the Marvel movie scenes filmed on the street were actually Atlanta. I'm sure there's a garage full of NYPD cars somewhere in the city just for filming.
